I used all my 2020 SO. My understanding is that I cannot borrow 2021 SOs and use them for an online reservation, I can only do it over the phone. Can I call Vistana, pay the MF for 2021 and ask them to swap the Options used for the current 2020 reservation from 2020 to 2021 year so that I can use the 2020 SO for an online booking?

Additionally and somewhat related in my case. I have a credit for the 2021 MF for one of my contracts (refunded what I overpaid for SVN fees) . Can I ask Vistana to move that credit to another contract, the one I want to prepay if the swap is allowed?

no sure about the swap of SO. But I am pretty sure that you can get the credit transferred. I had a similar situation, they added the $155 VSN fee to one of my WLR contracts and then the $50 fee to another WLR. I finally got them to reverse the fees, however they reversed the entire $205 on one contract. I contacted them again and they say they will transfer the $50 credit from one contract to the other within 30 days

You can only borrow what you need by calling Owner Services. Even after you prepay MF, you cannot borrow online to book.

The only way I can see this working would be to:

1. Call and make a duplicate reservation using borrowed 2021 points to match your existing 2020 SO reservation (assuming they have availability.
2. Once reservation with borrowed 2021 SO is secured, cancel the 2020 SO reservation. Those SO should be returned to 2020.
3. Use the 2020 options to then book an online reservation.

Keep in mind that you can only borrow exactly what you need. If you were to try this you would also lose your timestamp for your original reservation.

This is assuming they even answer the phone. Heard wait times are horrendous and customer service has gone downhill
