Has anyone uses star options for hotels as advertised on Vistana website? I saw Westin Grand Cayman avail for 40K per night. Seems like a lot. Anyone have any thoughts or experience?

Let's do a comparison. 40,000 StarOptions for one night in Grand Cayman. 95,700 StarOptions for one week in a 1-Bedroom Premium Ocean Front in Maui. So for the StarOption cost of less than 2 1/2 nights in Grand Cayman you could spend an entire week ocean front in Maui. That cost of the Westin Grand Cayman does not look good to me.

I equate 1 StarOption to ~$.01 based on WKV maintenance fees. So that 40k would be $400.

nah- you have to pay big bucks to acquire WKV, so that's not the right comp. more like $.015 maint fee per Staroption like SVV Bella or Key West, where timeshare acquisition cost is negligible. so 40k staroptions equates to more like $600/ni

basically, staroptions for hotels are generally a bad value proposition compared to mandatory Vistana resorts. but better than letting staroptions go to waste.

It’s a bit much on what they charge per night. I wish they had converted that hotel in villas instead of the Sheraton in Kauai or the Westin in PV..... more Hawaii and Mexico......

Don't see how your figure that value for StarOptions. 44K gets us a 1BR unit for a week at Westin Lagunamar, a studio for one week at Westin St John. So why waste StarOptions on hotels? Better to use Marriott Rewards points.

Agreed, which makes me wonder why they bother having that option. Is it just for people to waste options and think it’s great because of flexibility??

Basically divide your maintenance fees by the StarOptions of your owned unit.
2BR WKV Plat = 148,100
Maint fees = $1500
$/SO = ~$.01
