Going to St Kitts soon and would like some current recommendations on restaurants 1) walking distance from The Marriott and 2) a short taxi ride from the Marriott.

I have read that Marshall's has closed. We enjoyed that one when we were there several years ago. Also, I understand that the Dinner for 2 certificates are no longer accepted at the St Kitts Marriott - too bad, that would have been a nice benefit.

We are staying in St Kitts now.
We checked with Marshalls, as we plan to go there. They say they have reopened the ocean view section (only) of the restaurant effective Monday 15th November 2010, offering dinner Mondays-thru Saturdays 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m
We have just returned from lunch at the Spice Mill on Cockleshell Bay, which has a great location, good food and friendly service although it is a fair taxi ride away.
Within walking distance is PJ's Italian restaurant and Bombay Blues a new Indian retaurant (Ciao's Italian restaurant has closes now) or a little further away all the shack restaurants on the strip.
I suggest for ideas and reviews you might want to look at the forum comments on http://sknmyislands.com/forum/
good luck.

SKB site

That is a great site for info on SKB. When did they stop accepting the 2 for 1s? Last time we were there Blu accepted them.

I don't know when Blu stopped accepting the certificates unfortunately.
I guess you may have seen that this is one of quite a few exceptions

Hi -

We were at the Marriott earlier in the year. These are our favorites: Rock Lobster, Sunset Grill, Cathy's, Shiggidy Shack & Spice Mill. All but Spice Mill are within a 20 min walk from the Marriott or a short cab ride. Rock Lobster is the closest.

We had a great time there. Let me know if you have any questions. Have a great trip!

Serendipity is the best! Food is absolutely wonderful. Get a seat out on the terrace as the sun goes down and enjoy the view of the harbor lights. Service and atmosphere cannot be beat!!!!

Thanks for these great responses.

How far away is Serendipity?

Any opinions on the on-site restaurants at the Marriott?

How is the walk to Shiggity Shack and the other places on that beach? It will be dark I presume - it the walk lit? Safe feeling?

And, a bit off topic, is the electric service 115 volt (ie same as in US)? I couldn't remember.

Thanks.

I highly recommend Mr. X's Shiggity Shack BBQ, great lobster tails. We took a van/taxi there, and it was dec. 2003 so I don't remember how far the walk would be. we stayed at the marriott st kitts royal hotel/casino, I believe it was before the timeshare beach villas were built

Serendipity is in Basseterre, at the north end of the bay just inland behind Ocean Terrace Inn (OTI) so perhaps a $40 return taxi ride?
A great location/view and meal
There is a choice of on site restaurants from the cheapest Pizza Shack to the expensive Royal Grille
http://www.marriott.com/hotels/hote...s-marriott-resort-and-the-royal-beach-casino/
La Cucina and Blu restaurants offer good value theme nights
Shiggity Shack and all the other "Strip" eating places are less than 10 minutes walk away and whilst you might want to take a torch the route is reasonably well lit.
