SPG Points & Cash Costs Increased

I just booked a 1-nite stay at the MIA airport Sheraton (SPG Level 2) and cash/points was not offered, but only cost 4000 SPs per night anyway.

As to the rental discussion and SPs: I rent our 2 WKV 1Bd Prem/Plat, and WKORV OFD studio for a small profit pretty much every year (since we have limited vacation time), and while it is great to help off-set the MFs for our other SVO VOIs, it certainly does not cover them. Besides if you rent - you can't use. Renting can be part of the value solution and like SP usage - it is always best to maximize. But, buying VOIs from SVO for the SPs - it is not a good use of money no matter how it is spun - Even if you are 5*/PFL, and requaling a resale. These are added advantages, but still not worth paying full price from SVO.

And don't forget the value of your time, and each rental includes some risk and liability. I assume it requires some time and effort on your part to find renters for your units, and even though your time might be "free" there's certainly an opportunity cost to it in some form or other. I'd rather not spend a few hours, or much more, dealing with that aspect of timeshares unless I took it seriously...and I know we have some people here who do that, which is great. But, it's definitely not for everyone! :)

I agree - renting is not without hassle. I try and price reasonable to reduce the amount of hassle. For example I had someone that inquired about my 4th of July WKORV OFD studio for rent on the TUG rental board. After some back and forth and sending photos - he just disappeared - either trying to scam me (although there were no direct signs of this), or just rude - as it would be easy to send a thanks, but changed my mind email. Oh well...

I was able to rent my 2 weeks at WKV - after about 5 years of ownership (staying there once, and another time using to stay in a 1Bd WKORV) - I have returned about 1/2 of my purchase cost for each. I was somewhat surprised of the little amount of inquires I got for the WKV weeks this year(Mar2-9) considering the SF Giants won the World Series. Perhaps I need to rethink my marketing - I only had 1 hit from CraigsList and usually have at least some hits from CL scammers.
