SPG GOLD status - what to expect at Westin Puerto Vallarta

What can you expect if staying at a hotel with SPG Gold status? Specifically, we're going to be at the Westin Puerto Vallarta next year for a couple of nights? Can we expect any kind of minor upgrade with just SPG Gold or do we have to ask and/or request in advance?

Since so many people have gold status, I wouldn't expect anything, but I would sure ask anyway!
