I just got this by email - Free Magazine from Starwood

I haven't read all the fine print yet, but at first glance, it does appear to be free w/no obligation to renew and no cc required.

I think I am going to order Condé Nast Traveler.

* Yep - all I needed was name, address, email, & SPG number to sign up.

Looks like it is for elite members--I didn't get the e mail but I think I will try to fill out anyway and see!
 
Targeted

Starwood has a lot of targeted promotions and they tend to upset those that are not targeted.

This year I did not come close to making Gold on my own. I was targeted for this offer. The only reason I am Gold again is from my SVN ownership. I find it interesting that they haven't targeted all SVN owners with this offer. What criteria did they use this time?

Please post if you got it or did not and if you were Gold from SVN or from stays.

I'm Gold from owning Starwood, not Elite, zero Starwood hotel stays this year.
 
I followed the link and it allowed me to do it and confirmed the subscription--we are gold from buying Starwood but the link did say it was for elite members so who knows==in any case thanks! I did Gourmet for a year!
 
I got two e-mails: one for my SPG Platinum membership and one for my wife's gold. She hardly travels and is gold because she's listed first on one of our Starwood timeshares. All our SPG stays have been under my name. I get Platinum due to our elite level. I do stay at Starwood hotels, just not often enough to earn Platinum on my own. Most of the cities I travel on business (smaller European towns) to don't have Starwood properties.
 
Me and my wife got the email. The title is "A gift to congratulate you for upgrading your gold status" .I think if you ordered those new SPG cards with your choice of resort photo on the front then you will get this email from SPG.

Both my husband and I received e-mails. We're both Gold through SVO.

They rejected me :( I am not elite.
 
I got the e-mail offer this morning (I am Gold via SVO, ordered the new photo card & have 3 Starwood hotel stays this year).

Went with Vanity Fair.
 
We're gold through owning SVO and we got the offer. Said that it was a reward for renewing. I took Gourmet.
 
We're also Gold through SVO and the offer said for renewing our Gold Status. I went with Gourmet.
 
I'm not elite, I got the offer, I went with The New Yorker. It was time to renew and is like $40/year.
 
Didn't work for me. SPG gold through Am Ex card.

Didn't work for DH, SPG regular account with Am Ex.

So it looks like it's targeted to TS owners?

I got the offer, we're gold through SVO and not elite and didn't order new cards. Also as otheres stated it says the offer is for upgrading to gold status. We did nothing to upgrade. Haven't selected yet, maybe Vanity Fair, or Traveler
 
We've gotten 2 issues of Conde Nast Travel - nice Mag!
 
We are 4* SVO elite, and Gold SPG, but got:

"Sorry, you are not eligible for this promotion.

Oh well, obviously targeted to someone other than me! :(
