Hi everyone,

Not sure if it happens to everyone but since I bought MVC about 1.5 years ago, I've been getting spam calls 3/4 times a week asking me about my unused vacation. Any advice how to eliminate those or reduce them? And did MVC sold my info? I bought retail.

Thanks.

Those are not spam calls, they are scam calls. I get them often, usually in waves (lots of calls for a couple of weeks, then nothing for awhile. I never answer the phone call. MVC certainly didn’t sell your info but a rogue employee might have.

Unfortunately, timeshare ownership is public knowledge and can be obtained by going through county records. Don't answer the phone as these are scam calls.

Call blocking apps have greatly reduced, but not eliminated, these scam phi e calls.

any unsolicited call about your timeshare is a scammer attempting to separate you from your money

Just out of interest, as I have seen this referenced many times previously, does this just apply to US located timeshares and where for example would I find the records for Grand Chateau which is our only US ownership? Thanks.

Ah never knew this before. I guess that's why and probably will keep getting them. Sad.

Don’t answer the phone if you do not recognize the number. If it’s important they’ll leave a message.

Or, automate that. Only phone numbers in my phonebook actually ring my phone. So, virtually impossible to get a scam or spam call. If it's important like you say, they'll leave a message, For the once a year some super important call might come in and not sure from what number, I temporarily turn it off.

Usually the country recorders office has website where you can search for owner of a property or parcel.

We received 29 spam calls from the same telephone number about lowering our timeshare maintenance fees. Luckly for us we were own our three (3) weeks vacation in Hawaii.
We reported the telephone number to the Federal Do Not Call sytem.
They have not called since we filed the report.

We also have Caller ID thru our cable operator.

I once told a spammer that we are on the Federal Do Not Call list, but he told me it costs nothing to register to be on that list, and I therefore got exactly what I paid for...

Yes, but you actually did pay for it. US Taxpayers pay for the Do Not Call List.
