I own 2 BD gold ARuba. Any chance I'll get a trade into one of the properties in the summer season which I believe is platinum? I'd even take a one bedroom for my 2 bedroom.

CAn anyone tell me about the 3 resorts? where are they? Pros/cons? Best for kids? etc?
THANKS

Hi Ellen,

Spain's Costa del Sol is home to Marbella Beach Resort and Playa Andaluza. They're about a half hour drive from each other.

Marriott's Son Antem is in Mallorca close to Palma but in-land. It's built around a golf course and made up of 2 and 3BR town houses. There is one pool to 8 townhouses. On site is also a hotel with it's own outdoor pool. The Vacation Club also has an indoor pool which connects with an outdoor pool, tennis courts, European Spa. Son Antem is fantastic.

Marbella and Playa are also wonderful resorts - they're beachfront with fab pools and restaurants.

Have a look at reviews and the MVCI web-site for more info.

There are hundreds of RCI resorts in Spain. If you are talking only Marriott, then I suggest Marbella-it is very nice.

As long as you put in your request far enough in advance (best bet- a year out) and are flexible as to the dates (give as wide a range of weeks as you would be ok with) you should certainly get the trade from what I have been told by others. Well- I guess nothing with trading is a certainty, but you stand a really good chance. If you are ok with a 1BR you prob. would only need to trade your 1 BR side and that will be an easier trade to get than a 2 BR to 2 BR, since most people lock off before trading.

Hi Ellen

I think all 3 resorts would be great for kids, Playa has now got its own children's pool area and lots of activities for children eg a games room, small football/basketball court etc, also its right on the beach which is great.

We've only been to Son Antem once, the townhouses are wonderful, I think one of the best in Marriott, they have a proper living room, two upstairs bedrooms and bathrooms, lovely big staircase, patio doors leading onto your own small garden and then just a little stroll down to your pool, which was always empty when we were there. There is also a hotel on site with its own pool, spa, golf course and restaurants. The only downside of Son Antem is that it really is in the middle of nowhere and you would need a car, even to just get a few groceries, also there is no beach on site.

I think you would love any of the resorts but perhaps you would be better in Playa or Marbella, there's more places to visit more generally in the vicinity. Also I think you'll get a trade especially if you try for early Summer, ie before about 20th July, as that's when most schools in UK break for Summer holidays, not sure if this is same for rest of Europe.

If you want any further info, just ask, also have got photos of Playa if you wish me to send you some

Lynne

Yes, I'd love to see pictures! My parents want to go, too. We usually rent another unit for them. We've taken them to Aruba, Hilton Head, and this year Newport Coast. Since we own Marriott, we figured may as well use Marriott. We hope to close on some Hilton Points, too. Maybe Hilton will get us there - but sounds like a good bet for Marriott.

Thanks everyone! Like usual!!!:cheer:

Ellen-
If you request far enough in advance you should be able to get a 2 BR exchange so that you don't have to incur the expense of renting another unit for your parents. Keep in mind that if time approaches and you decide to exchange for a 1 BR and make back-up reservations for your parents, you should keep on checking to see if a studio pops up. For another exchange fee they will give you that unit too and then you can request the units be combined at the resort level (you need to call II for that).

We just stayed at Marbella (in March). We also did the tour (for 10,000 points) at Andaluza. The Andaluza resort has more stuff at the pool for kids. Our 2 year old didn't want to leave the pool area. However, the onsite restaurant wasn't finished yet.

Crazy as it sounds, my parents like a 2 bedroom to themselves (each want their own bedroom). We need a 2 bd with 2 kids. So I think I'll go exchange first with Aruba both bedrooms and hope for a 2 bd in spain (any place - though beach ones sound best). then we can rent for the folks. tHANKS!!!!!!!:whoopie:
