I booked a ticket from LA to Nashville for travel in late January on Southwest a few days ago and it came in at $403 rt, non-stop.

Last night I was crusing the web to see if any deals were to be had, and much to my surprise the same flight #'s, on the same dates and same airline was HALF what I had paid to book the flight a few days earlier. I couldn't make changes as the system was down Saturday night for maintenance, but was told it would be back up at 2:30am. The phone center for SW confirmed this...at 11:30p so I figured it was worth the $200 to stay up a few hours and make the changes.

I did, and now the trip is $217. I will continue to check this every couple of weeks...but I don't expect it will get any lower.

fyi....

Gotta love SW! We snagged a Ding Fare recently and saved $50 per ticket.

Yep, LOVE the Ding fares. Got tickets from Cleveland to Orlando direct for 2 for about $280. Last Spring they had them for $25 each way several times! It also helps that SW added 2 direct flights a day to Orlando. No more laying over in Nashville, Chicago or Baltimore.

Another thing I like about Southwest; I had to change the flight time & day for my Dad last July. I was able to go online, make the changes and not be charged a penalty - just pay the new rate. In my case the rate was the same, so it was no-charge

Joan.

Southwest is probably reacting to the announcement by JetBlue last month that they are dropping service to Nashville International (BNA) effective January 6, 2008.
