Southern Cross

Seeing the Southern Cross for the first time (thanks CSNY), was one of the highlights of our trip to French Polynesia in 2019. That seems so long ago...

I am a Crosby Stills & Nash fan and have always loved the song Southern Cross.

I know this was an old post but when I saw the title thread my first thought was the song (and it started playing in my head).

Fun fact - David Crosby did not appear at all on the Album version of Southern Cross. This song is really just "Stills and Nash".

Did you understand why you came that way?

Absolutely did. Can't wait to go back.

Funny story...the night we first saw the Southern Cross was after dinner on the deck of the m/s Paul Gauguin. I had the CSN song cued up on my iPhone and played it right there on the deck. The Gauguin is a small ship, so there weren't many people out, but a younger couple walked by and looked at us like we had three heads or something...

Funny, the southern cross brings the Moody Blues into my head. Definitely will make a point of looking next Hawaii trip!

Thank you, as a Black Sabbath Fan i have never heard this song. Really enjoyed it.

Really? This of course is from the Ronnie James Dio era. Ozzy couldn't sing like that if his life depended on it.

Ah, so the lesser Black Sabbath period, then? :D

(Ozzy is not the greatest singer, but he's still Real Sabbath)

Cheers.

Not really a true CSN fan (they were before my time and not my type of music), but that song speaks to me. It brings strength of leaving behind what is dragging you down and turning to what gives you hope. I love the water and would love to see the Southern Cross someday.

Jimmy Buffet also does a lovely version

This one is live, but there are others as well.

Cheers.
