Soooo... what'd ya get?

My very best present was having our son home from South Korea. He is only here for a week, but it sure is great having him here for the holidays. Our daughter, son-in-law and precious 13 month granddaughter were with us as well. It was wonderful.

My second favourite gift was tickets for DH and I to see Jersey Boys. We will enjoy that!

Happy New Year to my dear TUGgers!

Dori

We're redoing our kitchen and getting a new induction range, so all the old non-magnetic pots won't work, including the big stock pot we use for steaming crab legs, a favorite treat. For one of my husband's presents, I looked several places and finally found a nice replacement stock pot.

Imagine my surprise when I opened one of my presents to find: the exact same stock pot!

Best gift is my DH. He had a prostate biopsy in late Nov and we sweated the results for 2 weeks and finally were told on Dec 14 he was in great shape..no cancer, no enlargement, etc. We were celebrating our good fortune when he was told he needed an urgent gallbladder removal so our joy was short lived. He had the surgery on Dec 19 and was home on the 20h...a little worse for wear but still his smiling, happy self. I forgot to say we just moved into our new home and our furniture was delivered on Dec 15 so you can see we have had a very busy week between Dec 14-20. Christmas was quiet but that's okay...we were together and we are both healthy and he is on the mend and the world is wonderful.:cheer:

My favorite part of this Christmas season was watching my mom and my 7-month old daughter play, laugh, and love each other. My daughter had such a blast with my parents over the last 4 days (just got home) it was so fun for me to watch. My parents are in NH, so we don't see them all that much. Even my wife was touched by how much our daughter loved being with her Nana.

I got to have Christmas with all my kids & all but one grandkid, my dad and his wife, and my brother & sister--not all at the same time, but at least I got to see everyone at some point over the last three days. It's the first time my brother, sister, dad & I have all been together for Christmas in a lot of years, and it wasn't even planned. :whoopie:

On September 30, I got the very best present ever - my first grandchild!! Our beautiful little baby boy (and his Mommy, my daughter) spent the whole week of Christmas at Grandmom & Grandpop's house. (They live in VA and we live in NJ.) He is all I wanted or needed for Christmas. He makes Grandpop and me soooo happy... that every day that we get to spend with him is a special present for us.

Spent time with family Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. DH gave me/us a trip to Italy with a cruise attached after a couple of weeks from Venice to Athens via Istanbul (excited yes). Linda

An 8-day hospital stay and two unexpected surgeries this week. But I'm on the mend and was home with my two boys and husband (celebrating our 27th anniversary on Christmas Eve). My Mom, who has many health issues, was able to come to our home today for a small Christmas dinner.

I think most will agree that the best things in life are being with those we love and who love us.

My heart goes out toose who can't be with their loved ones.

Merry Christmas! :hi:

Egret - I'm glad you're on the mend - and yes, being with loved ones is the best gift. My parents (85 and 80) were with us at my home. I bought Mom a Coach purse and Dad a kindle and lots of shirts. I got wine from them (a full case of GOOD WINE). My kids gave me socks. :hysterical: My husband gave me wine. What does this say about me?

FANTASTIC NEWS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Makes me want to cry - how special for you!

Santa gave me several nice things. But two that stand out: A cz gold tennis bracelet. Not so much the bracelet, but that one of my very good friends conspired with my husband, who then went to another one of my friends who's husband was a jeweler and had it made just for me, at a very 'reasonable price.' (I don't want to know what that is...) He went way out of his way to make this special, and that in itself made it so.

The second greatest thing I got was from my sister's FIL. My parents were not the best, and when my sister got married 30 years ago she scored in the in-law department, getting a fantastic new mom and dad. At the time my sister and I teased her MIL-to-be that we came as a package deal. The response "I have always wanted daughters!" They have been special to me since that day and have been a part of my life as well. So, it was just special to get a hug from "Dad Young" and have it come with "I am so glad you are my daughter!" Nothing with a bow could mean as much as that!

You have good taste in giving gifts (the Coach), and your family has good taste in giving gifts, too (the wine!). Must run in the family. :D IMO, you can't go wrong with a good bottle of wine if the recipient imbides.
