DD and I volunteer for one of the campaigns. The other day we were both wearing our candidate's t-shirts and buttons, and she had to go to the ER (she is ok) - normally we don't go around as walking billboards, but when you have to go to the ER you don't stop to change. So..... The t-shirt and buttons were quite the conversation starter!
One person looked at me and said, "so you support ***?" I smiled and agreed. She seemed amazed to be talking to a real live *** supporter (like I was a Martian) as her views are completely opposite . We actually had a friendly conversation and found some common ground. I did find myself redirecting the conversation a bit, as I wasn't interested in a debate or argument in the ER. It was informative for me to learn more about how ***'s opposition thinks.
Another coveted one of my buttons, so I gave it away. Still a third hesitantly brought up some points about both major candidates. This person seemed kind of afraid to speak up, even though I think s/he supported the *** on my t-shirt.
Meanwhile, with my car in the parking lot overnight I did decide to remove the bigger clings/signs on the car. I'd prefer not to get my car keyed.
