Someone is giving me a free TS

I wouldn't acquire it- even for free. The MF, combined with the annual cost of airfare to use it- and to be locked into it is enough to keep me away. Maybe if it's a RTU expiring in 10 or so years it would be more attractive- if I didn't already have more ways to go to PV than I need. I don't need more.

Oh, and did I mention that it doesn't appear to be associated with a network of other properties one could exchange into internally and cheaply.

Here is the REAL test - if all of you could acquire it right now - for free - how many of you would take it?

That's not the real test - everyone's situation is different. I did not see anyone here recommend buying it to rent or trade. They said "buy it if you will use it every year". Good advice for any timeshare purchase if you like the area and resort.

As an example we bought a resale at Morritt's because we love the resort and love to go to the Cayman's. We were aware of the issues with the resort, but got it basically for free and did it anyway.

Of course if the OP has never been there, or does not have any good reasons for wanting this week, I'd agree with you 100%

Since you can rent in Mexico for less than the MF, there is just no reason to own there.... honest....

Actually that is dishonest because it is a deliberate distortion. As pointed out so many times, by those of us who go to MX every year the good weeks and resorts in MX rent for more than their MFs. Anyone can rent in any country at some resort for less than the MFs you make no point.
