On a recent flight the aircraft looked very new, but actually all the seats were replaced with a new design. The seat-back storage pocket is now a small fish-net instead of the larger full-seat width design. Much to my surprise is a small outlet on the back of each seat. It includes a 110vac outlet and a USB port. This provides power to each passenger's computer, cell phone or other toy. Here it is:

The Hawaiian flight we took last moth also has a USB connection but it said that it could not charge an I-pad. It could charge devices which have a lower amp needed.

I just used the 110 vac outlet. Plugged in my adapter then plugged the male USB cable into the adapter. Plenty of power to charge the iPhone and run the notebook.

Love Alaska Airlines. Hope they have those for our trip in March to Maui.
