SoCal TUG Get-together Sunday 1/17/2010 @ Noon

The Socal Tuggers get together is suppose to be a week from today. I am just checking to make sure it is still happening. Do we have any kind of agenda? Are we going to just play it by ear?

How will we identify ourselves? Do we ask for the TUGGERs Group? Just asking. I just like the comfort of knowing my purpose and who I will be with. How many are no scheduled?

CS

Hi folks. My apologies for not getting on here sooner. I've been out of town and dealing with some family issues. Aside from a quick wisecrack I've not been focused on tug and the get together prior to tonight.

We most certainly are having the get together next Sunday at noon. I'll be counting up the yes's and contacting the restaurant tomorrow to confirm they can have us. Once we have confirmation, I'll post with the details, secret passwords, handshakes etc.

No real agenda or purpose other than connecting names with faces and maybe a couple of informal discussions about what we might want out of Tug as members & vice versa. It would also be interesting to exchange stories on your best and worst timeshare experiences and any useful tips anyone has for those with issues.

Mostly though its an opportunity to get together as a group in person and be able to talk about timesharing & tug without feeling like being part of a cult. More tomorrow!

-Steve

Ok folks we're golden for our get together this Sunday, 1/17 at NOON.

Our reservation is confirmed at Buca di Beppo (BdB), 11757 Harbor Blvd., Garden Grove, CA. This is a mile south of Disneyland. The reservation is for 18 and we have twelve confirmed thus far.

Just ask for TUG when you arrive. As our confirmed numbers are just below the banquet packages limit and many of us have different preferences, we'll simply order off the menu and maintain separate checks. Here's a link to the menu: http://www.bucadibeppo.com/menu/index.aspx?MenuTypeId=2

With no offense meant toward anyone here, I've found it useful in these kinds of get tog-ethers to remind folks to tip well as we will be a large group! 20% is a good number, if it's not already figured into the bill.

If anyone else is coming or canceling, please post it here so we can update the restaurant.

We look forward to see you there!!!

I'm 95% a yes! Sorry, can't be more definite than that.
Thanks for doing the planning!
Elena (and Maybe Greg, if I can get him out from under his '65 Mustang!)
Aloha!

To help us with conversation, my wife suggested posting a short list of questions/topics to discuss. She has offered up some small door prizes to those whom we think have the best answers.

Here they are so you have time to prepare. See you Sunday! :whoopie:

Where do you own?

How many weeks do you own?

Do you use, rent or exchange your week(s)?

If you feel comfortable sharing, what is the least you've paid for a timeshare purchase? Most??

What are your top three favorite ts resorts to date?

What has been your best exchange?

What has been your most memorable trip involving a timeshare (positive or negative)?

What is your best timesharing tip?

What is the most significant thing TUG has done for you?

(BTW, my wife just chided me that these are supposed to be fun not homework.)

DON'T POST THE ANSWERS HERE...BRING THEM WITH YOU SUNDAY!!!!! We can post them after the get together!

I will bring our homework, oops, fun with us. :)

Sorry cannot make it.

Sorry to say we cannot make it tomorrow. We have company from out of town visiting. We will try next time.

Looking forward to meeting everyone! Sure glad we are doing this before the big storms come.:D

See you there!

Janna

We had a nice lunch today with 7 of us at the SoCal get-together and while it was a bit fewer than we hoped, the number made for a very manageable conversation with good company in a setting where we didn't feel out of place going on & on about timeshares.

It's always good to put names to faces and to learn a few things from folks in person. We will do this again hopefully sometime in the summer. Maybe the next time we can get a bit closer to Jana who drove almost an hour and a half to meet us!

Thanks to those who came and we look forward to seeing more Tuggers next pass.

Hey, seven is a good start. NorCal TUGgers wasn't always a big group. The first meeting was five of us, I think.

Glad you enjoyed yourselves!

So sorry, didn't mean to "flake", but the rain had me spooked. I really dislike driving the freeways in the rain.
Glad to hear it was nice.

A Very Nice Visit

I really enjoyed meeting TUGGers. It was nice to hear what other people do with the information and to exchange information face to face.

UWSurfer, please tell your wife thank you again for the prizes. My wife loves hers.

Hopefully, we will do it again.

UWSurfer - thanks for putting this together. DH and I enjoyed meeting Tuggers, sharing ideas, and we look forward to another one in the future.

No we didn't actually take any pictures. We were so engrossed in the conversation and dealing with a long hair found in one of the dishes that we basically forgot to take any. It didn't help either that I was sitting there with lots of cold medicine fogging up my brain. :wall:

Guess you'll have to come to one of these to find out what we look like. :D

Next time we'll try to hold it on a day other than Sunday.

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed out TUG get-together the other day! Everyone was so nice, it was a very comfortable group although a little smaller than I expected. I enjoyed hearing everyone's experiences and tips and impressions of other resorts. The questions that Steve put together for us to discuss was a great idea and really helped to initiate some interesting conversations.

I want to say a big thank you again to Steve who did all the footwork for this gathering. Without his efforts this definitely would not have happened. And his wife was very sweet to bring lots of door prizes, of which we all got one! I like my cake stand; it is very cute and will look great with cupcakes on it sometime (soon I hope!).

I look forward to our next TUG get-together and hope some others can join us who couldn't make it today. Steve's suggestion of having a little closer next time is very kind, but I'm totally fine with driving. The most important thing is that it be central so the most people can come. I would have made more of a day of it and seen something else while I was down there had the weather not been getting hideous!

Great to meet you all and hopefully see you at the next one!!

Cheers,
Janna
