Snow in Florida again this year!

Here in Ft Lauderdale it's now 43, and I'm using the oven with the door open to heat the living room, and a space heater at Wyndham Palm-Aire in each bedroom / bathroom. IDK, the heat doesn't work. We asked about it Sat night, and I texted again this morning, but if they can't do anything I guess it'll be less of an issue after today. I just don't know why it took me days to think of using the Oven to heat the central area.

I must say. You're pretty calm about this situation. But you've traveled to a resort where all mechanics should work perfectly. No heat when it's 43 degrees outside? That's unacceptable. They need to find a solution ASAP.

Did you hear about the guy in South Florida that started a Log Fire in the Fireplace in his Livingroom to discover it was merely decorative. There was no flue.

And I guess he learned very quickly that smoke from a fire has to go somewhere. I may be going out on a limb here, but I believe a majority of people would probably prefer that it go outside. Instead, it filled up his living room.

Or was there also a fire issue?

Iguanas aren't having the best time, either.

I'm not too fond of iguanas. I was at the Galleon in Key West and parked under some trees in their "spillover" parking lot. Upon coming out to the minivan the next morning, the roof, front window, and hood were covered with iguana droppings. There was so much of it that I had to gingerly push it aside from the front window using paper towels in order to see. Had there been ten iguanas up there?

In any case, I knew that Hyatt Windward Pointe had a hose adjoining one of their parking areas and was able to spray it off.

The iguanas in south Florida are an invasive species. They are using this cold snap as an opportunity to get rid of some of them. We can humanely kill them if we see any.

My bff lives in Florida. When she starts to talk about "cold" weather I just roll my eyes.

As a former upstate NY state resident who now lives in Naples I'll never complain about the cold weather here

Yea, the place is getting warmed by the floors below I'd guess, or else is otherwise trapping heat OK. But yea, I guess I could be more of a PITA, it's just we're basically through the issue anyway - I like it cold at night, and I think tomorrow it'll warm up plenty so no big deal. The electric oven is taking care of the center and the heaters we bring with us are good enough in the bedrooms. I guess I will have to feature this in my review - which I guess has to drop a lot, because this lack of a fix or any ideas from the front desk is pretty bad. Then again, I assume 99% of people won't have the 35 degree weather here either.

I believe it was just smoke damage.

I'm shivering here in St. Martin (NOT!). It will be sunny and 29C (84F) today, with a low overnight of 25C (77F). It's been basically the same every day for the three weeks I've been here so far, with a bit of occasional rain. I love the consistency!!

OBX, in NC loss four more ocean front homes to the storm last week.
That bring a total of ten oceanfront homes that have collapsed into the Atlantic Ocean since October 2024.
