When we were at Oceana Palms this past June, they had a nice scent wafting through the lobby... very clean and tropical.

They gave us a bottle of lotion with that same scent. My wife loves it.

Last minute valentine's thought-- anybody have any idea of what that scent is? Do they sell something like it at Bath and Body Works (they sell the former Marriott Orange Ginger shampoo)?

Hi,

Sorry I didn't see this sooner. We received a bottle of lotion in January and the fragrance is Melon Awapuhi and is formulated specially for Marriott. Awapuhi is Hawaiian Ginger. My suggestion for your next gift giving event is to take to bottle to Bath and Body Works or another vendor in your area that has lots of scented lotions to choose from and match as best as you can.

The Orange Ginger scent was formulated by B&BW and sold under their brand before Marriott introduced it into their hotels. That line has the most natural, non perfumy fragrances that B&BW sells, imo. You might look there for something that has the light, clean fragrance. Also Occitane has some very nice fragrances. I like Green Tea because it has a light 'white flower' (a perfume term) fragrance. Everyone compliments me when I wear the cologne.

I hope you found something to give your wife and you didn't end up in the dog house. At least you tried and were thinking of something she might appreciate. That would score points from me!

Good Luck!

Does that scent permeate throughout the villas? Or, just in reception?

I love that scent and keep a bottle at our place in Chicago. Every time I use it I'm mentally transported back to the beach. :)

We loved the scent too. Got an extra bottle of lotion for my daughter, she remembers the trip whenever she uses it.

I did not notice it in the villa, just the lobby.

She got a mixer!

My wife got a Kitchen Aid mixer (yes she wanted it :D ).

The lotion would have been a fun surprise for her.

No more lotion as the free gift. So sad. Now it is a plastic cup w/straw.
JP

Does it at least have an Oceana Palms logo?

It says Marriott's Ocean Palms in a light green and has a leafy design on it - doesn't really look like a palm to me, maybe it is one I don't recognize. It is the logo - I have since noticed it on the staff clothing and rugs.
