Anyone have light bulbs that turn on and
off automatically when you enter a room?

Looking for suggestions for a Light Bulb system
with wireless remote control or smartphone hub.

I think I saw a version of this format using LED's bulbs at Home Depot or similar type retailer within the last year . I think it used a (TV style) remote - not an automatic sensor . I thought it was interesting - but not something I needed for the price point .

There are a couple of brands that can be voice controlled by Amazon Echo, or the Echo app. I have a smart switch (Lutron) that can turn the lights on when the room is occupied or off if the room is unoccupied. It works as advertised. About $20 on Amazon.

I recently bought a bunch of the Philips lights. I've also got some Smartthings equipment which include sensors for turning on devices. There are a lot of options out there now and I'm still figuring out which is best for my home. So far, I really like the Philips colored lights.

For maybe ten years, I've had a switch in the garage that turns the light on when you enter and the room is dark, and automatically turns it off a short while after you leave. It cost probably $15. Since it works on infrared, it doesn't work well when the garage is warmer than people's skin, which is fairly often here in SoCal. These are now required in commercial locations.

There are slightly more expensive controls with a "clicker" that let you turn things on remotely.

And then there are systems that hook up to your WiFi and tell you their status and let you control them. I've thought about one to monitor and control my garage door, which my kid often leaves open.

We have a solatube in one bathroom that has a sensor and LED. During the day it lets in sunlight (without letting in the heat) and at night it's set to motion-sensor and will turn on the LED when you walk in the room. That might be what you're looking for.

Any motion-sensor like fixture will have this feature. It's not the bulb, it's the fixture though.
