Please help clarify these two categories.

Sightings are defined at the beginning as "posts relating to weeks of special interest that have been found to be available from an exchange company".

Why is that a sighting? doesn't everyone have access to the same information if they belong to the same exchange company?

"Distressed weeks" seems to be where you cannot use your week for whatever reason and are trying to exchange it. But it seems that the odds of someone wanting to use your week at the last minute in exchange for giving up something they have booked (and presumably wanted) would be extremely slim. Does it ever happen?

Thanks for your help:hi:

Not everyone has the time and interest to check their exchange company online every day, and the best weeks go fast, so members post their sightings as a service to other members.

A distress week is not necessarily offered for an exchange only - but all negotiations are handled privately. In fact, you are not allowed to list any terms in a distress post, so that's why you don't see that info. Some people are retired or very flexible and can travel at the last minute, and they get some great deals this way. Some people have many weeks to use, and are happy to trade one for a last minute trip to a great resort.
