Should I take Coconut Beach Resort?

We requested the upper keys for May 2009. SFX has offered us an exchange at Coconut Beach Resort in Key West. We're trying to decide whether to take it. One of the things we wanted to do was dive Pennekamp park. I know it's just two hours to Key Largo from Key West but that could make a long dive day. My two young adult daughters (21 & 22) might be joining us and I suspect they would like Key West better. Also at this late date we might not get another exchange to the Keys.

I think I've almost talked myself into taking the exchange. I just wanted to get other's thoughts.

Drive Time

Drive time from Key West to Key Largo could be 2 and half hours, depending on traffic conditions.

Exchanges to the Florida Keys are hard to come by.

Yes you should take it

Take it!

I'd definitely take it, personally. Nice resort, good Key West location. In my opinion, it would be better and more interesting to have a week "based" in Key West --- and drive to Pennecamp S.P. for a dive one day (...don't fail to go to Bahia Honda S.P. too) rather than be "based" for a week in Key Largo which is, imho, a far less interesting location than Key West.

I'd snap this up without any hesitation at all if the dates work for you and yours. Just my $0.02 worth...

If you've never been to KW, there is no doubt in my mind you should go. KW provides a variety of options for restaurants, shops, bars, sight seeing, water sports and the every popular KW event - doing nothing and watching the sunset.

I would rather stay in KW and drive to the dive site one day then stay in the upper Keys and drive to KW 6 days. While we haven't stayed at CBR, I did check it out a little while there last fall - looks like a nice property on the water at the Atlantic end of Duval (the Atlantic end of Duval is much quieter than the Gulf end).
