Not knowing much about all of this-----I guess I do not have Service Pack 3.

I just tried to download Turbo Tax 2011----it requires it.

I see people have had problems with it---so what should I do?

Can someone provide a link to a safe Downoad----that is IF it should be downloaded.

Thanks,
Pat

I had the same issue a few weeks ago. I checked with my son, the most
Computer savy person in the family, he had been running it for a while with
No issues so I went ahead with the download. No issues so far and Turbotax is
Up and running. Here's the link that I used.

Another link: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/bb794714

"Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) includes all previously released updates for the Windows XP operating system, in addition to a small number of new updates. Windows XP SP3 will not significantly change the Windows XP experience."

BTW, Windows 8 (beta) will be released soon.

I would certainly download and install it. The SPs are set up to fix (especially) security issues and back doors that 'bad guys' have used to get at our stuff. That's why you (and TurboTax) don't want to have your personal data exposed as it would be without the SP.

That said, if your computer has the capability, like you are not using an Atom powered netbook, you are waaaay overdue to migrate to W7. Win8 will be out pretty soon and you oughtta be no more than one generation of OS behind.

Personally, after using DWs Windows Phone that is just a preview of W8, I can hardly wait to upgrade.

Of course, downdoad it...

You chose to use a Microsoft operating system when you installed Windows XP why not install the free updates that they provide

Especially because you are using an older OS, install the SP!
