We just got back from a short stay at AKL. We had a Savanna view, studio. Room 5523. We loved the location and being in the Jamba House. The lobby is breathtaking and there are so many locations to view the animals, including our balcony. The quick service location Mara was a great option for delicious food. Being gluten free/ celiac I was treated to waffles with berries and cream. Unfortunately, we did not have time to sit at the pool, this visit. Our room was comfy, although the bed was small ( a full size with 2 adults). Our view from the balcony was terrific, giraffes and zebras grazing below. After a long day of travel, we stopped in for a drink at the Victoria Falls, such a beautiful location and the service was spot on. The only complaint was that the studios do not have washing machines, so you have to use a communal wash room in the building that you have to pay for. This was our first stay in a studio, so we were unaware. We opted to forgo the laundry, since we were only the a few nights. Overall a spectacular stay!

Did your room have a Murphy bed as well as the regular bed?

AKV hasn’t had the refurbishment yet during which the Murphy beds should be installed. Hopefully that will happen later this year or early next.

It will be great if they revamped all those studios to sleep 5 (maybe with the exception of "value" which are probably too small for that)!

A king bed is 16 inches wider than a queen bed. I don't get why they don't just add the king bed and make the side tables smaller with some USB ports. It's just 8 inches needed on both sides of the bed to fit a king. People would be much more likely to enjoy a studio with a bigger bed.

We did have a queen bed on the cruise ship. I was pretty surprised how big it seemed. Rick measured it and said it was definitely a queen size.

I also think they are queens. And if you’re staying on DVC points you don’t have to pay for laundry-you can get tokens or a card, depending on the site, from the front desk.

Nope, queen sized. They don't have any full sized beds anymore.
Even the value resorts have queen beds now, one regular and one Murphy that comes down over the table. But I’ll admit, we’re so accustomed to our king that even a queen looks small to us!
