I'm looking to book a reservation for 175,000 points in 2017, but I'm short 21,000 points.

Is there an option to pull the 21,000 from 2018 to complete the transaction so I don't have to rent them for the last day of the reservation?

2017 is too far out to borrow points right now.

Your only other option would be to credit pool some of your 2018 point, then you'll have access to those pooled points.

or Im pretty sure you can rent points...

Try to make the reservation and if you can rent you will be given that option, If you cant rent you can credit pool 2018

You can rent points to complete the last day of the reservation. So if 21,000 is fewer points than the point cost of your last day then you can rent them for $10 per 1000 points. You can't do that online. You have to call the call center.

Will this work for resale points also?

watch out about credit pooling. I believe that you cannot use them for APR bookings.

Yes it works for resale. In June I credit pooled my left over 2017 points, then booked a day in NY for Sept 2016 using some 2106 points and some 2107 credit pooled points.

Thanks! We actually did this today. However, All these fees are killing me! Fee to credit pool and then we didn't realize that it was another fee to book the reservation ...uggh! Oh well, can't be helped I guess.

You can rent points OR borrow from your next use year for any part of a reservation for ANY reservation made in the express period. You can do this online. This summer the rate was $8/ 1000 points.

I tend to borrow from my next use year all the time, that way if I need my University to foot the bill (conference, research trip, etc.) I can get an invoice and charge out $8/1000. You can only borrow from your next use year or pay for points if you have no points left in your use year or if your new reservation needs more points than you have in your use year.
