We have been with the program now for about 4 years. We started out in Myrtle Beach and then "upgraded" to a larger unit in Orlando. Our thinking was that we would take the kids to Disney several times. As it turns out, we don't have the time or finances to utilize this property the way we thought we would. What seemed like a great idea is now a nightmare. We understand that we are looking at losing our entire investment but, we would rather do that than continue to keep paying for something we don't use. My question now is, HOW DO WE GET OUT? Has anyone had success with getting out from under a Starwood property? I am not looking to make money on it, just want it gone!

Thanks!

You can give it away here on tug under the bargain deal section. Include the details of ownership like size, season , maintenance cost etc. and the terms of your giveaway. That way you have a good chance to get it gone.

Yes, here is the link for the Bargain Deals section:

Also, try to be positive about what you are offering rather than lacing it with negative overtones such as " just want it gone!".

On another note, I can really sympathize with you about owning a TS. Maintenance fees are just a "small" cost of owning. The larger costs (in my books anyway) are the peripheral travel costs such as airfare, luggage costs, car rentals, attractions such as theme parks, food, etc.

1) it needs to be completely paid off before you can sell it/give it away - otherwise, your only option will be trying to give it back to starwood and potentially taking a credit hit. (similar to trying to give back a car that you bought which has lost value.)

2) if it is paid off, it looks like several SVR weeks have sold on ebay (you would need to be signed into your ebay account and then look at "completed listings.") prices are very low and likely include prepayment of annual dues and any transfer fees.

Have you considered joining Interval and trading for other places? You aren't stuck going to Vistana. I've had good trades with mine so far.
