Sheraton Vistana Orlando good for trading? (Starwood)

However, I don't think Vistana will be a very good trader. First, Orlando is not a good trader in general because of the huge supply and second, with any Starwood resort, Starwood determines the week they deposit for you to II, and you can bet that they won't deposit a really high demand week like week 52 or spring break. I'd look elsewhere for a trader but Vistana is a very nice resort for the money if you were going to use it. One good thing about Starwood's bulk deposit method is that they save the best weeks for the owners and it's not that hard at Vistana for an owner to reserve a week 52 or spring break or other really high demand week, unlike Marriott where you have to call at 8:00 a.m. 12 months in advance.

I thought Starwood only determined the II deposit for ownership actually participating in SVO. As a resale buyer at Vistana Resort, the OP wouldn't be a part of SVO. Wouldn't their deposit be exactly what they reserved?

As a Sheraton Lakes owner who purchased before Starwood took over I can tell you that is how it used to work. I would reserve my week and deposit it myself. Now I do not have control over what they deposit for me. This year I asked them for a powerful trader as I want to travel to the Royals in Cancun during Easter Break 2009. They gave me Sheraton Vistana Villages (where I do not own) week 3 (a week that had already passed). I'm not sure how great a trader it will be. I would have preferred a Christmas or Easter week but they said they have a panel? who decides which week will be used. I can't believe a panel reviews each deposit week request. Anyway, it has been deposited over a month and still no match at the 4 resorts I asked for, but there is still plenty of time. I am not part of SVO.
