Sheraton Flex resale general questions

Thanks for the replies. I happy to say that I found a 1BR Bella EY available and I am working on purchasing that unit. The seller has some leftover starpoints from 2023. Can those be transferred with the ownership? How does Vistana handle that? Can unused Marriott club points transfer as well?
By the time the ownership has transferred, the 2023 StarOptions will be long expired. The deadline to bank 2023 StarOptions into future Use Years is already long past. Transferring them with the ownership is a moot point.

Could the seller reserve a week next year with the points instead of letting them expire?

The Club Points can't transfer because this resale ownership will not be eligible to participate in Abound so you will not have an Abound account to put them in nor any reservation they make with the Club Points before the sale.

The start date of the reservation has to be by the expiration of the points. If the points expire December 31, 2023 some of the days can be in 2024 but check-in has to be on/before December 31, 2023.

I am a little confused about the abound distinction. I appreciate everyone's help with this. So, I pay the $295 dues for club membership but I don't get access to Marriott club points or abound options. Are there any benefits of the club account beyond access to SVN trades and access to II? If I understand correctly, I can exchange within SVN at 8 months (including Westin properties?) and book a week at Sheraton properties (or is it only SVV Bella section?) at 12 months out.

What's the deadline for deciding if you want to deposit in II?

You don't pay Abound Club Dues unless you own something that is enrolled in Abound. If the only thing you own is an unenrolled voluntary Vistana VOI, you don't pay the Abound dues or VSN dues. If you own a mandatory Vistana VOI that is not enrolled in Abound because you bought it after the 2022 cutoff date, you pay VSN dues. If you end up making a qualifying retail purchase to get your resale enrolled in Abound (which will also enroll it in VSN), then you pay the Abound dues.

If you purchase a mandatory VOI, you will have VSN access and you will get a "free" II account even without being in Abound. However, having it in Abound allows you to exchange in II to MVC and Vistana resorts with a $0 exchange fee, while not being in Abound that fee is $169 (I think, but could be wrong). Being enrolled in Abound also allows the VOI to count toward an owner status level. And, of course, you have the annual option of electing your Vistana VOI for Abound points to book directly in that system instead of VSN or II.

Here's a simple way to think of it...

Voluntary resale = just get to use what you bought or pay for an account to exchange it in II, no access to VSN (StarOptions for internal trades to Vistana properties), no VSN fee to pay, no Abound access.

Mandatory resale = receive VSN access/ StarOptions/pay VSN membership dues, use what you bought or exchange it through II in your free Vistana II account, use StarOptions trade to other Vistana properties 8 months out, pay all transaction fees in Vistana and a reduced II exchange fee of $164 if trading to another Vistana or Marriott property, no Abound access.

Direct purchase from Vistana = everything you get with mandatory resale plus Abound access to access Marriott timeshare properties with your Vistana ownership, pay Abound club dues instead of VSN dues, get all of your Vistana transaction fees waived plus free trades/retrades in II to other Vistana and Marriott properties.

You can also buy under one of the resale options and then do an additional direct purchase from Vistana of a certain dollar amount to make the resale have all the same benefits of a direct purchase.
