Sheraton B'way Plantation Questions

We read the information about the 12/24 month reservation window advantage at the Sheraton Broadway Plantation Phase 1, but we still need clarification please.

Background: We own an every other even year 2 bedroom lockoff in Phase 1 of SBP, and the date on the deed is week 31. We purchased from the developer rather than buying retail. Yes, we now know that buying resale is better, but at the time, we bought with our hearts rather than our heads, but so far we have been very happy.

Here are my questions:

1. Does the 12/24 month reservation advantage apply to people who purchased from the developer? Or does it only apply to resales since it is a voluntary resort so resales are not subject to Starwood rules like members of SVN? (We think that’s the right acronym.)
2. If the advantage does apply to us, does that mean can we can call Starwood’s reservation department tomorrow to book week 31 at SBP in 2010?
3. If we can book week 31 in 2010 through Starwood, can we immediately deposit it with II? Or must we let Starwood assign a week for us at any resort/date they like?

Also, Andy, we think you got a great buy!!!

Since you bought from the developer, you cannot deposit the week of your choice - Starwood reserves the right to choose the week deposited. The procedure is to call owner services and ask them to deposit a week for you. Hopefully, someone else will know how far in advance you can do deposit a week from SBP.

As far as resales not being subject to Starwood rules - resales are subject to most rules. The two major differences are:

1) Voluntary Resorts don't have Staroptions on a resale.

2) Resale owners are supposed to get to choose the week they deposit with II - YMMV!

Other than that, resale owners make reservations just like developer owners.

Donna and George --

Did you buy from the original developer (marketed under the Embassy name) or from Starwood? Are you SVN members?

If you bought from the original developer and never joined the network, the original rules apply to you (you can book your week 2 years in advance, but II seems to only take deposits for SBP at the one year mark). If you signed an SVN agreement, then you're subject to the SVN booking and exchanging policies.

Hope that helps.

We did buy from Starwood, so unfortunately the 24/12 rule doesn't apply to us.

Thank you Denise M. and Jersey Girl for clarifying the rules for us. We knew that we could count on our friends at TUG.
