I got a phone call a couple weeks ago from a gentleman explaining that SFX and Platinum Rewards have combined to offer services for SFX members. I am still not clear on whether Platinum Rewards inventory is merely additional hotel and resort weeks available like an "extra vacation" for purchase, or whether our SFX deposited timeshare weeks can be used to make an exchange for Platinum Rewards weeks. Does anyone know more about how this new system works? Or can you point me somewhere so that I can read more detailed information?

No, I don't see anything relevant in the press releases. Some are from 2002 and don't appear to be services that ever materialized!

Mark, a spokesman for SFX posts on www.timeshareforums.com and is good about answering questions - he has his own forum there - try asking him.

Try http://www.myplatinumrewards.com/navigate/home

Its so-called cruise "discounts" and extra weeks at a price.
Some of these left-over weeks in Mexico may be of interest, but I don't know who would want to stay a week on the coast of Maine or in Lethbridge, Alta, Canada in January:eek: Brrrr...feels cold !:(

Kola has been trying for months to get people to believe that SFX just has junk weeks to provide to their customers. He is clearly mistaken based on the exchanges and bonus weeks that I and others have received from SFX.

That said, however, I am not in favor of the new Platinum system. It costs $1995 for a "lifetime" membership. I think it's far too expensive for the "benefits" that you receive. If I were you, I'd call the number, ask plenty of questions, and see if it's worthwhile for you. It isn't to me and I'm going to let my current platinum membership run its course and then rejoin as a gold member. They also have a 10 year membership that may be worthwhile. But they might not tell you that unless you ask.

Good luck.

My own experience with SFX has not been good. They never came up with any of the weeks I requested in Europe I requested quite a while in advance. Nor did they have anything for Williamsburg in the summer which I requested I in advance. We ended up taking a Mayan Palace unit in Cancun in August, which was not a great time to go there, and they wouldn't even give a Grand Mayan unit for a Hilton Points deposit. I would never deposit with them again.

Sue,

The fellow that called me mentioned the shorter memberships. I told him that even ten years is an eternity. Many companies have gone bankrupt in far less time, and RCI which I liked ten years ago, has changed so much I've dropped them. Like you, I plan to let me platinum membership with SFX expire in 2010, and go to the gold membership. I have two more Kona Coast weeks on deposit to use with them, and am hoping to get decent exchanges. After that, I'll probably use II most of the time, but if I get good trades with SFX, I won't write them off completely.
