While some of these locations are not big vacation spots, I know St Kitts does have timeshares, and both Kenya and Tanzania are popular safari destinations. I considered booking the MVC in St Kitts for next year, but changed our plans.

The only way this could potentially impact US travelers going to one of these destinations would be if the country slapped some kind of reciprocal ban on US tourists to express their displeasure with the US government policy- but that seems very very unlikely to me for a country that relies so heavily on US tourism. They would be shooting themselves in the foot.

We changed our plans a month or two ago and decided to go elsewhere with our friends, and this new story played no part in our decision. Sorry if I was not clear about that.

This was just an FYI and maybe it was silly to post because you are correct. This being said, if you are not a US citizen you can face scrutiny getting back in.

Non-US Citizens face scrutiny going to the US anyway and always have. If there are changes to add more countries to the list that the Visa Waiver programme can't be used on, that would be more of a problem.

St Kitts and St Lucia, and probably others, have citizenship by investment programmes with relatively low monetary values required, that type of scheme is seen as a route that can be exploited by bad actors. As always, the actions of a few cause the many to be penalised.

I watch a YouTube channel (Nomad Capitalist) every now and then that talks about getting second, or third, passports. Some of these countries are being scrutinized more closely because they make it easy to obtain citizenship through investment. Thus allowing some citizens to circumvent their other countries that have travel restrictions against their passport holders.

I am currently in Brazil. Came here with my son who carries US passport. In April Brazil started requiring a visa for US, Canadian and Australian citizens. I am a dual citizen, US and one of the countries from the list named 5th most powerful passports. My son is a dual citizen as well but his non-US passport had expired so he had a visa. I came with my non-US passport, no visa required. What a difference when we arrived in Brazil. My son was asked tons of questions, why is he visiting Brazil, how long, where he was going, if he knew anyone in Brazil etc. I was just asked if this was my first time visiting Brazil ... "no, my second...oh, then your passport was renewed since your last visit, have a great time". And that was it! Was quite an interesting experience. And sadly not the first time how I get a different welcome when arriving to different countries with my non-US passport.

I hadn't ever thought about it but with access to 180 Countries with our USA Passport, I'm thinking 180 countries out of 195 countries total is more than enough for me. The 15 countries that restrict the USA Passport still recognize it.

Yeah, these are interesting rankings, but at the end of the day, you can still enter most of the 15 countries by getting a visa added to your passport. When I was traveling extensively for work, I frequently obtained visas for destinations such as China, Russia, and India. Not as easy as just a passport, but most are not that difficult to apply for.

I applied for the North Korea visa back in 1951. Still waiting. Someone said I had to join the Marines to get my passport stamped.

Yeah, there are some places I have no interest in visiting, and North Korea is one of them. I am glad I got to visit Russia, but it's doubtful I will ever visit there again.

Some European countries allow people to claim citizenship based on ancestors. For example, if you have a German ancestor who was a German citizen when united Germany was founded under Kaiser Wilhelm I in 1871 or any time later, you can claim German citizenship and for some ethnic German communities in eastern Europe such as Romania, that is extended back to medieval times. My wife holds citizenship and passports in the US plus two European countries, one in the EU, and one not in the EU.

I have a colleague who holds an interesting passport in addition to his US passport, that of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, and due to his position in the Knights of Malta, it is a diplomatic passport. I asked him if he could actually go through the border with that, and he said there were 60 or 70 countries that recognized the Knights of Malta as a sovereign non-territorial state and those countries had no problem with someone entering under their passport. Interestingly the Republic of Malta is one of those countries. It also is possible in some other countries. I asked about the US, and he said he had never tried it or known anyone who had, but arriving from overseas, he always went through the much shorter diplomatic line, showed both passports, one to justify being in that line and the other for actual entry.
