Resorts Owned
The Summit at Massanutten
Hello,
Am new to this site and I would like to ask how I can post an Advertisement to SELL my timeshare which was already fully paid since 2012. Annual Maintenance fees are paid.
Am retiring soon, with health issues and will be living overseas. Have no need of this unit since I am on fixed income now and my kids are not interested.
I called the resort already, they do not offer a "deed buy back". Polite way of saying I pay the maintenance fee till I die.

I would like to advertise this as FREE. I will even pay for the transfer of title fees. Just want this out of my hands before I die so I do not put this as a burden to my children.
I am serious when I say FREE. No strings attached. Not even a dollar more.
Any information will be helpful.
The unit is Summit at Massanutten. Fixed floating week 24. 2 bedroom Sleeps 4-6
Thank you for your advice.

You have come to the right place to start reading about how to get rid of your timeshare.

I suggest you start by reading the sticky at the top of the thread entitled "Looking to buy or sell a Timeshare? Start here!"

There are also stickies at the top of the "Free timeshares" thread.

For example, "How can I give away my timeshare on TUG for Free?"

There is a wealth of knowledge in this forum just waiting for you to start reading.

Good luck!

Whom did you contact at the resort? In cases like this, we recommend contacting the resort's Homeowners' Association, not just someone at the front desk. Tell the HOA that you want to give your TS back (not buy back). Be firm because the HOA realizes that it will be easier and cheaper to accept it back rather than to go through the rigours of foreclosure.

The HOA might charge you the next MF and possibly a transfer fee, but at least it will be done cleanly and legally.

Just as a precaution, this is what many here on TUG emphasize to people in your situation. Do not seek out the services of any of these exit/cancel companies that claim they can get you out of your TS. If they aren't an outright scam, at best, they are going to charge you thousands of dollars to do something you can do yourself for a lot less money.

Your children do not have to accept this property when you die. They can just say no.
