Searching II on-line with a Floating Week?

How do I go about giving II the date of the floating week we've been assigned at our resort, so I can use the week to search on-line without depositing it first? The counselor said I need to put in a request first, and it must be for a week prior to the start of the week we've been assigned which is for school vacation next February. We already have all of our vacation plans in place for 2005, and I want to search on-line for something in the fall of 2006.

Although we've been members of II for some time, we've never exchanged with them, but I wanted to give it a try. However, I don't understand why I need to put in a request first. Why can't they just add the date of the actual week we've been assigned to our account? I have a letter from the resort verifying the date of the floating week that I could fax or mail to them.

Can someone with a floating week explain to me how you go about giving the info to II? I eagerly await any info someone can shed on this dilemma for me. I feel really stupid for not understanding what it is they want me to do.

Sounds like you talked to someone who doesn't understand.

If you want to "shop" on the website it should be pretty straight-forward. Login and go to the exchange area. You should see your week listed with selections to search or deposit. Click search then enter your reservation number, unit size and date of arrival.

If you know you want to deposit your week with II, you can deposit online by selecting deposit (I've never done this so just assume it will work) or call. Then when you login to exchange, the deposited week should appear and you can search with it.

Good luck, and let us know if you encounter problems.

A BIG Thank You

Thanks so much, debraxh. I didn't realize I could change the unit number from float to the actual unit number we've been assigned plus add the check in date myself. When I did that, it allowed me to search without depositing my week first. I really appreciate your help. I knew I could get the help I needed here at TUG.

Thanks again,
Betty
