Following up from my March ebay purchase of Sheraton Vistana Villages from Sean.
The deed was different than what he listed, but it ended up being an honest mistake on his behalf. He didn't have all the information and Vistana staroptions are a bit confusing. He ended up giving me a pretty big discount if I wanted to proceed with the purchase, or I could just drop it altogether. I proceeded and bought the 2BR for 81,000 staroptions for close to nothing. I would buy from Sean again.
The closing with their transfer company went pretty quickly but I had to follow up a few times.
What I've learned through this and another similar ebay purchase is:
-some high volume sellers like seans0302, timeshare discounts, the timeshare group, etc. auction a lot of timeshares and sometimes get their details wrong. (Make sure you look for a seller with high amount of positive ratings, like over 500)
-upon winning a bid, ask for a copy of the deed and the estoppel to verify all the details yourself (which means you have to really understand the timeshare system and what you are purchasing. DO NOT PAY until you get this info and verify with the seller.
-if the details are wrong, you can simply cancel the purchase. the sellers realize they made a mistake are fine with you cancelling. they will usually correct their listing and relist
-if you still want the timeshare, it is open to renegotiation
-send follow-up emails frequently to keep the process moving along, and be straightforward but courteous. Angry emails don't work well with a volume seller. They just want to sell the timeshare quickly, hassle free and move on.
