As I read through about the SDO true platinum, I'm getting more confused. What we have is 2BR LO 1-21; 50-52. The unit [deed number] however is not one of those mentioned as true platinum. If for example I bought this from developer or requalified it, how many star options will it be assigned. Thanks

You would only get 81,000 Staroptions - not the full 148,100 Staroptions - don't do it - this isn't a good value.

The real value of SDO is that it is a strong trader in II for other Vistana resorts. I've traded for Princeville, WKORV, WKORV North, and Nanea.

I believe there is more information on the deed or perhaps in the contract information that indicates if it is an SDO true platinum or not. Do you know what the "Company" is? 47 or 49?

and be in the 1-21, 50-52 date range.

[CORRECTED] We have been discussing this for 20 years - before Starwood bought out this resort, [the previous developer sold everything as 1-52. Then Starwood bought them out, and changed the seasons.] It's not just the dates - it's also the unit numbers on the deeds, [because those are the platinum deeds that Starwood sold:]

Deed # 1064, 1072, 1081-1100, 2064, 2072, 2081- 2100, 3064-3072, and 3081-3100 and be in the 1-21, 50-52 date range.

As I understand, it was the original developer that sold the Gold Plus 1-52. When Starwood took over they created the different seasons as we see them on the StarOption chart and sold them as such. So the True Platinum weeks are the ones that Starwood sold after they took over.

Vistana weeks deposited into II have a blended trading power. You don't reserve or deposit a specific week or reservation. You just tell Vistana or II you want to deposit and you get a deposit with an average trade power across all weeks in the season. SDO true platinum will have better trade power than SDO Gold plus, but perhaps not enough to really ever matter. Buy SDO Gold Plus to trade through II, buy SDO True Platinum to requalify later to get the StarOptions. SDO True Platinum weeks are fairly rare on the resale market.

@dioxide45 - given your expertise on blended trading power for vistana deposited to II, would you know whether for WLR, it would make a substantial difference between gold plus and platinum plus? thanks

we bought several platunum weeks but did not check the unit numbers but instead checked with SDO to how many SO we would get to requal. we regualed 4 SDO platinums but the best one was the company 47 EOY small unit 1-52. that unit gives us bank. it allows us to book the larger one bedroom units for 44k points at the 8 month mark. so my 81k platinums get me almost 2 weeks in february in a larger one bedroom.
