Hey There,

Just a quick question regarding SDO.

I'm currently looking to purchase my first TS as Ive mentioned in a couple of other threads. I think Im going to take the advice of many others and buy and SDO for trading purposes only on II.

I'm currently looking at an annual 1 bdrm, platinum usage.

Can someone please clarify how the floating system works here?

I was under the impression that units floated week 1-52 at SDO, but this seller has listed it as a platinum unit week 1-21 or 50-52. Does that exist?

also, if in fact it does float as indicated, is it better to purchase a 1-52?

Both types do in fact exist. SVO changed sales and created seasons when they took over the resort. Pre-SVN weeks were all 1-52.

Depends on what you want. 1-52 gives you the ultimate flexibility. Platinum 1-21/50-52 constrains you to those "platinum" weeks BUT if you decide to requalify the week with a developer purchase in the future, it will get you more SVN options. (148,100 vs. 81,000 for the 1-52 week)

Actually, it would requalify as 67,100 or 81,000 staroptions not 148,000 dependeing on whether you have a 1 bedroom ro 1 bedroom premium

Do platinum week holders get priority over those weeks? Also, I'm looking to trade into II so wouldn't a plat unit guarantee that Starwood deposits a prime week for me without argument, or a need to book 12 mths in advance?

Platinum only defines the type of week you have on the calendar. It does not give you any priority over others who can book the same weeks. Everyone who who can book, week 5 for instance, has the same shot at it. Everyone can book as far as 12 months in advance.

As for Starwood's control over what's deposited in II. That has been debated on a number of different threads. I think the prevailing consensus for SDO owners not in SVN is that Starwood does not have this authority, but nonetheless they will try to use it. So, get a supervisor who will deposit the week you actually reserved.

Anther option is to reserve the SDO week you want and then go online and deposit it yourself. Some Tuggers have reported success depositing a non-SVN week this way, and this avoids tiresome discussions with Starwood.

I think Im going to move forward here in purchase the unit. Again, it's a 1 bdrm deluxe plat annual for $800....does this seem like a solid deal?

I've looked at the Sightings board but am haven't seen alot of SDO trades. Im looking to trade into WKORV in early Dec, WKV in Jan, and some ski outing....should this be a realistic trade?

Lastly, can anyone recommend an Escrow company? This is my first TS purchase, and Im unfamiliar w the process. Also, Im in Canada which should make it a little more complicated.

Thanks

Sounds like a very good deal to me unless as long as the closing costs are reasonable.
