We are trying to decide between a week at Scottsdale links and Orange Tree resort. There are not too many recent tug reviews on the 2 and I would like an opinion from anyone familiar with the resorts.
Scottsdale Links is newer. I have played golf at both and enjoyed them equally as much. However Scottsdale Links is located adjacent to the grounds of the Princess Resort and the TPC; probably a little more upscale than Orange Tree. Sorry I can't tell you about the units, since I haven't actually been inside either of them. What I can say though is that Scottsdale Links is a Sunterra resort and as a Sunterra owner I believe that most of their resorts are superior to others. Biased, maybe, but that's where I've invested most of my TS dollars.
Hi
Just spent the first week of Feb. at Scottsdale Links, very satisfied. Never stayed at Orange Tree, however did go there last year to see what it was like, the units there are more like large studio units rather than a 1 bedroom. The 1 bedroom at Scottsdale Links are quite large, around 900 SF. I thought both location were good, if it were my choice, I'd be going back to the Links!

I'm happy to hear all the positive comments about Scottsdale Links. We were offered this resort a couple of times and turned it down because our friends who stayed there said it was really noisy with the Scottsdale airport being so close. Anyone else had a problem with this? I agree that the units at Orange Tree are not true 1 bedroom units but more like studios. Nice area but we would not stay there again.
The Scottsdale airport is less than a mile away. It's not a real busy airport, mostly small private aircraft. Never stayed at the Links so can't comment on the noise but stayed at the Sheraton Desert Oasis not to far away and never notice the airport traffic.
The way our friends spoke I thought it must be closer than that! She did say a lot of private jets coming and going during the night. Maybe she's just a light sleeper. Probably wouldn't bother me
Will have to give it a try sometime.
Hi Lynn,
I booked one night there in October /07, a two-bedroom unit, so I will let you know what it is like. We are spending a week in Sedona but we are visiting with the rellies in Phoenix for a day before heading north.
Scottsdale Links is directly in the path of the runway for Scottsdale airport, but it's not a big comercial operation like PHX Sky Harbor. Small jets and private aircraft make up the majority of the traffic and rarely does it go on all night long
