I am new to TUG, and this forum, so someone set me straight if this doesn't belong here. We have been back from our trip to Pueblo Bonito at Emerald Bay for about a month now. We went to the timeshare presentation with no intention of buying as we currently own a week at the Buganvilias Resort at PV that we want to get rid of. The sales people at PBEB said that they had a company that would buy the PV week (for a fee) if we bought a week at PBEB. So we fell for it and now have two weeks. We are being contacted by Timeshare Equity Sevices in Montreal for paperwork, id information, and the fee so that they can "buy" my timeshare in PV.

Somewhere down the road I want to try to sell my timeshares through TUG. But right now, I would like to find out the following.
1) I have to finish paying for the PBEB contract? No way to get out of it, right?
2) I can ignore Timeshare Equity Services? I do have an Equity Value Agreement signed (by me) and submitted to them. It has nothing filled in regarding the value of the property. But they are a scam operation, right?

If someone could help me here, I would greatly appreciate it.

Wish we had better news for you, but on the surface of it, it's like this. (1) Right. and (2) Right.

You weren't REALLY thinking that you could just sign up for a new timeshare from PB, they'd take your Puerto Vallarta TS off your hands, give you some money (or credit) you could pocket or apply to the PBEB one then turn it in, were you?

It's possible that if you keep up the payments on the PBEB, and abide by the agency they've tasked with getting rid of the PV one, that eventually it will go away. But then maybe a whole air force of pigs will appear at the Tri Cities airshow this summer. More likely the only way the PV one will get transferred out of your name is if they give it away on eBay for a buck. That's about what Mexican TSs go for.

Then, maybe if you post everywhere you can think of on every social media site on the internet, they MIGHT cancel your contract, keeping all you paid. There is no guarantee of this. It might result in ugly calls from collection agencies and a hit on your credit if you simply quit paying.

I really am sorry to tell you these things, but in our experience that's kind of how it is.

Best, I suppose, to hope that eventually the PV property gets transferred out of your name- keep pestering them to uphold their end of that deal, and enjoy those nice Pueblo Bonito resorts.

There are those here who would encourage you to default, and make them come after you, but that's up to you. It wouldn't be the way I rock.

When I bought at PB I "traded in" another time share I owned and got significant credit for it. Timeshare Equity Services handle the trade-in and it went smoothly and all worked fine. So in my case they performed well.
