[ SCAM! ] Anyone with Experience Renting RCI Weeks Through Corporate Travel Agencies? (Specifically VacationsNearMe.com)

Hi. We also got scammed with Priority Vacation Rental. We tried to cancel it within 10 days and asked for refund, but their sales tactics were so bad, we got into it.
Already filed with BBB, Florida State Attorney general. We live in CA, so should we also file anything in California?
Also, where to file a police complaint?
I will request a fraud on my credit card charge.
In all honesty - Is the money gone and no way to recover?
Your best bet for a refund is the credit card dispute. Do that immediately. I suggest you also file an Attorney General complaint in California. File the AG complaints even if you get your refund from your CC company. This scammer needs to be shut down. Filing a police report may help your credit card dispute and can, occasionally, result in the company refunding your money. I don’t think it will in this case as I suspect the scammers will be closing the business soon (and likely start fresh with a new name). You can check with your local police department. The link for California is below.

Good luck. Come back and let us know if you were successful.

How long has it been since the transaction posted? If it has been more than 60 days since your credit card statement was issued, then it is too late to request a charge reversal.
I'll clarify a little by stating that the above is what is required by law. There is a chance that your credit card company will be more generous.

Thanks a lot again. I was also thinking of putting a case in the small claims court in seminole county - https://www.seminoleclerk.org/departments/courts/civil-court/small-claims/

I'd like to thank you all for this site, and this thread and especially RX8 for the extra detective work that you put in, you guys just saved me from getting scammed out of $2994.
Thank you for coming to TUG to share this! It seems like all we hear is from people who got scammed already. Love to see that our warnings on TUG are found in time to prevent some people from losing thousands of dollars.

Think of the people who do not find TUG and do spend that money for a scam.

If you don't mind sharing, how were you about to get scammed out of nearly $3000?

A few times I have baited the scammers into a conf call with Interval. One guy took the bait and actually confronted th II CS agent. Then he eventually hung up. They are the scum of the earth. A pile of dog S$%#.

Must have worked to my advantage since they have not called in a while. However I continue to get a multitude of other scam calls. Lately it's been a Medicare scam.

My experience was basically the same as OPs was, I got a call claiming they were from Wyndham saying something about how I had some kind of unused benefit that I didn't really know about, then it connected me to them saying I had RCI weeks that I hadn't used, which I didn't even know if I had because I'm new to all this, and they talked to me and gave me the same offer, $1600 per week, and you can sell a maximum of 6 weeks, so you'll get $9600. But then they said it cost $499 to list a week, and they asked for a credit card, I started to ask questions about what company they were, and they told me that they were vacationsnearme.com, which I plugged into StartPage, and I scrolled down to the bottom of the first page and I saw this very thread. So, after reading all of this I said, Oh, this isn't for me, I don't even think you are allowed to sell these weeks, and without much argument, they said thank you have a nice day and hung up.

TUG has been a lifesaver for me. Before I even signed up, I posted a thread here, and it potentially saved me from a scam. Since then, I've been contacted by three different companies about my RCI points. It's unsettling how they knew I had these points sitting idle and expiring soon. I suspect this information is being shared by someone with access to it.

I'm very grateful to the knowledgeable people on this forum who consistently identify scams and offer advice, and they do so with incredible generosity.

I don't think they know you have expiring points. That is just one of the statements they throw out there hoping it lands. Given that many people tend to have at least some left over points that will come up for expiration at some point within 1 year, it is not that difficult to land an owner. They also throw out available "extra weeks" and similar statements.
They can easily find you using the deed records from the county website.

Has anyone been approached to buy your timeshare calling themselves Global Travelling and located in Monterrey Mexico?

As we emphasize many times on these boards, it doesn't matter what the name of the company is. These scam companies change their names very frequently and pop up with new names. Just look for the red flags to determine if it's a scam.

The two main ones are an unsolicited phone call and an offer to buy or rent out your TS for way above market value.

Sure, you can pursue a lawsuit. The hard part is finding an attorney who will work for only a small payout on contingency. To make things worse, the "rental" company will probably be dissolved by the time the lawsuit is filed.
You have an excellent case.

Now, how much justice can you afford ?
