We did a Wyndham update (sales pitch) at Bali Hai, Kauai.
All our Wyndham points were bought resale, at Myrtle Beach Seawatch.

The pitch was to convert Myrtle Beach to Bali Hai, and with that to PIC two of our RCI properties into Wyndham. The cost would be about $20,000 for 140,000 new Bali Hai FSP points. Plus Partners sounds good, but not that good!

He spent most of his time badmouthing what we already own - - RCI Weeks, RCI Points, and Wyndham non-VIP.

He claims that maintenance costs per point at Bali Hai are half what we're paying at Seawatch. Could that be true? If it were, I'd want to sell Myrtle Beach and buy Bali Hai or some other low cost FSP resale instead -- I use my FSP points almost exclusively by deposit into RCI Weeks, so they're all the same to me.

Could it be true that Bali Hai is that cheap or Seawatch is that expensive?

False low...

From what some other more seasoned owners on the board have said, the low M/F at Bali may be because the developer is still there (so they can make the point they are making to you right now). Once the developer finishes up and leaves, expect a M/F hike...

Just my $0.02....

AJ

Bali Hai UDI are $3.40 per thousand before Fairshare Plus fee, Seawatch is about $4.70. That is not half of the MF cost of Seawatch.

That salesperson must be awfully hard up. I think you need to keep what you have, too, because fees go up after the developer leaves, as someone else already said. Hawaii weeks are the most expensive of any timeshare you can own, because wages are higher on the islands. Don't believe a word he says.

Bali Hai Wyndham points are going to be rare in the resale market for a long time.

You need to pay attention to what the annual fees are per thousand points. While Hawai'i timeshares have high maintenance fees, in many systems they also garner more points, which at least partially offsets the higher maintenance fees. In some cases the higher fees.

In a weeks system, those higher maintenance fees are killers. In a points system, where you can swap a two-bedroom prime week for two two-bedroom prime weeks in other locales, those maintenance fees aren't nearly so high. In some cases they might even be less.

Well its good that you kept yours as you didn't go putting your self in more debt "upgrading" when you really wouldn't gain anything but 140K points from the developer.

However, I must admit when I was there in August (W.Royal Sea Cliff) and they were offering me the "upgrade" and rolling all my points into the "Outrigger Club" and a lower MF, and the Trading Places Premier membership (which gives you 2 weeks for 1 and a payout of up to $699 in MFs) and keeping my VIP Gold (which I will be losing at the end of this year) oh I was tempted ....very tempted. So much so, I am considering purchasing some Hawaii FSP points at a later time.
