Microsoft released an emergency fix for an IE vulnerability today, so make sure you get the fix by running windows update today.

How do we do this---is there a link?

Pat

Use "windows Update" from your START button or under tools on IE (WHY are you using IE - get the free Firefox or other secure browser). This is an emergency patch for IE but it is far from the last. You need it no matter what browser you use as default. Get it now!

Thanks for this.

Took just a minute or two and now it's done.

Is this active now? Read about this yesterday for today's release, but when I tried earlier today it just showed an update for Windows Genuine Advantage Validation Tool (KB892130) which I declined to install.

Just tried it again, and that's all it's showing for me now, too.

I'm not configured for it to download and install automatically, but to download and give me the option of when (or if) to install.

OK, this time I went ahead and installed the Genuine Advantage Validation Tool update. NOW it lets me proceed to find the MSIE update.

I think if you use the custom option, it forces you to install the validation "tool". There's nothing new there, Doug. It's been that way for some time now.

If you waited, you would have eventually gotten it the normal way.

Updated!!

My computer updated automatically this morning at 3:08 AM.
Thanks for the reminder, however.

Thanks for the posting --
I thought I was getting all updates automatically, but when I checked just now nothing was done yet for today, so I"m doing it now.
