Royal resorts in Mexico was recently purchased by IHG (Holiday Inn vacation Club)
As a result the chain was split and one property the Royal Uno was purchased by someone else.
What happened since then:
1) To move the points from Royal Uno to IHG they were trying to discount points for the transaction, after arduous negotiation they agreed not to reduce my points.
2) They increased the Service Fee by 15%.
3) My unit was worth 6900 points in 2023, it is now 6500 and will be 5500 in 2025.
Royal Resorts was a deluxe organization with one of the best ratings in the timeshare industry.
When you go now you see the name Holiday Inn posted everywhere, why would anyone associate the name Holiday Inn (promotional hotel chain) to what it was a deluxe resort.
Since they have total control of the annual fees and points allocation, what will stop them from continue to dilute the points and increase fees in their favor.
I bought my timeshare in the resale market for $5000 THANK YOU TUG and enjoyed it for many years and I can exit at no loss.
What about the people that pay 30.000 to 50.000 and they are stuck with a company that will squeeze every penny they can from them.
I recommend not to deal with IHG you do not know what you are buying at any price.
