hi to all, just recently returned form cancun adn i to was curious as to how things woudl be since the hurricane. well, starting with the airport it was very efficient eventho operating out of one terminal. overall cancun hardly looks like anything happened to it, i will try to remember many things and may not write them in any order just how they pop into my head. stayed at the royal caribbean and it was asabeautiful as ever, evrything fully operational with the exception of captains cove. all correspondence lists it as opening in nov. our sales guy told us in one month it will open, i do believe this may happen as they work so fast. as for the strip, most hotels up and running sheraton completely down to the ground, hilton running no golf course. the building going up between royal islander and hilton is a crown paradis resort.looks like they were hauling sand and spreading it all over the golf course probably will cover with layer of sod, still operated by hilton but recetly puchased by someone else. fiesta americana aqua looks terrible had only been open several months when the hurricane hit, no work being done as it looks. cancun palace, lots of work being done, there is no longer the miniature golf course high up on an elevation that my family so loved. buses running on schedule, seemed to be a few less but as cheap and efficient as always. la isla fully operational in fact the new section is open and it has quite a few new stores, two levels, some restaurants. movie theaters still operating. forum by the sea minimally open, rainforest is open and looks like hard rock open. cora negril flea market is open. marriotts not opened yet nor ritz. fiesta american condesa is open and looks great. catholic mass is thre on suandy at 11 i think it was. weather was gorgeous very hot for first 4 days then cooled down. ate at the hacienda sisal one night very sparsely populated but the food was outstanding, prices good esp. after the 20% discount and there was entertainment, dancing in the sisal. on our return home the airport extremely crowded but so efficient you would not believe all the changes. i don't know about other us cities but at our airport that is certainly no the case.i continually marvel at how well it has all been put back to gether. the mexican people are really so industriuos and the government i am sure deserves much much credit for the dollars sunk into the work. we did not go towards downtown. the beaches look fabulous and didnt see any hugh rocks as we walked from royal sands to royal islander. to anyone oging you will be amazed and have a lovely time. if anyone has any further questions, just email. adios, laura
