Room upgrade question?

I just noticed a 2 bedroom has become available. I currently have a 1 bedroom deluxe reserved.

Can I upgrade within the 15 days? Normally I would cancel and then rebook, but check-in is next Sunday so I can't do that.

1 bedroom was 49k pts
2 bedroom is 64,800 pts.

I really want to 2 bedroom. Really, really :)

Are you a VIP?

If not, then there is no upgrade. As you noted, you would lose your points as within the 15 day window if you cancelled and rebooked.

Do you have upgrade priviledges (VIP)? You are allowed 1 upgrade, if you haven't used it, you should be able to. If you go to your confirmation page, and select to check for an upgrade, it will tell you if there is one. It won't allow you to check if you aren't eligible.

Unfortunately, the online system is down (early) for the night. Check first thing in the morning. (Although my money is on the system not being up first thing in the morning - Wyndham does not have a good track record when it comes to system maintenance and availability). If the online system doesn't come back up in the morning, call Wyndham when the phones are open again - 9AM ET on Sunday's. Their system is often available even when the online system is down.

Good luck!

Give Owner Care or Reservations a call and they can get it for you if they want.

If you have upgrade priviledges you don't have to call you just have to go look at your reservations and it should say check for upgrades on the far right column in your table of reservations. Reservation system need to be open for this to check, but it is down right now until tomorrow.

Strange reservation page is showing the reservation system is closed image (the reservations are not selectable and you can not check for upgrades or cancel or add guests). However I was able to check a new reservation, which was available. Wyndham is sending mixed messages.

However this may all be for not. Since if you are NOT VIP, no upgrades are provided.

I'm not VIP.

I was mostly wondering if it's considered a "cancel" since I'm still getting a room, I just want a bigger one. One wasn't available when I reserved.

The kiddos can sleep on the QS.

This is my first year so I'm trying to learn all of the cans and can'ts of Team Wyndham.

:)

Yes, you could cancel your ORIGINAL reservation. But just try to imagine your little ones NOT going away at Xmas as you lost the reservation to someone else who happened to push the keyboard faster than you.

Be happy --- yes, the little ones will live on the sofa.

And by the way, I never even heard one muffled whine out of my 11 yo nephew who slept on a sofa bed all week at DVC/AKV.

I'm thrilled that we're going. T-giving week at Daytona Beach will be awesome...much better than the ice box Atlanta has been lately!

The kiddos don't know we're driving over to Orlando for a day at Disney!

You're right, a smaller room is tons better than losing the room completely.

I'm sure the littlest one will manage her way into the middle of the big bed anyway, so the teen may have the sofa to herself!

2 things --- Go early in the week to Orlando - like MONDAY (the parks get swappped the later in the week it gets). And it is Turkey Trot in Daytona Beach for Thanksgiving Weekend (I think that is some type of Hot Rod event?).

We went to Disney yesterday and you were right....slammed (and cold)!

After returning to the resort at 2am, I was up early this morning for my first ever "owners update" breakfast.

I have no idea what those people said. I told the man to give me the print out of what he was telling me and I would consider it after a nap!

I own 231k points. He wants to sell me 84k (with bonus for VIP, of course) for $13,900....something about Perks?

I did get an AMEX card, dinner certificates, and Turkey Trot thirst for everyone out of the meeting...about $100 combined value.

Now for my nap.
