What size unit?

Have you tried calling Marriott res and asking them what type of unit that is? They can usually tell you. If you find out let us know.

It is a 2 bedroom. I will let you know what I find out.

I just called Marriott. They told me that it is an Island View.

I booked this unit today on an immediate exchange. The Marriott Rep told me that it was in the name of "payback space" and would be updated over night.

Good for you -- when is your check-in date?

Thanks and congrats!

August 26. I had the Westin booked for the week after and traded for the marriott as the timing worked better.

I think island view should be in the new Napili tower.

If I recall correctly the only view that is available in both new towers is "ocean front". Napili has "island view". Lahaina has "mountain view". "Ocean view" is in the Lahania tower. So unless you have an "ocean front" unit, you can tell by the view which tower you'll be placed in.

Have a great stay. I was there last month and loved it! It seems to get better each time I'm there.

Newowner, thanks for posting. I feel hopeful that I can do the same thing next year at the same time (mid August to end of September). I want to stay at either the Westin or Marriott in Maui. Did you find the Marriott while searching II? If I understand correctly, you had the Westin week confirmed and retraded when you saw the Marriott online during flexchange. Getting a 2 bedroom unit is a real score. Congratulations!

Yes, you are correct, I did have the Westin booked via a previous exchange. Then retraded into the Marriott during Flexchange as a result of slighly better dates for me.

Ironically, I also booked the Westin as an Instant Exchange about 6 weeks ago (outside of flexchange) which surprised me.

Only the Napili tower has "island views". Here is a brochure that Marriott gave us a few years ago and it gives you all view categories for the whole Maui Ocean Club resort. I scanned a few other pages recently but will ask Marriott's permission to keep them posted otherwise the album will go non-public again.

Greg,

I have a confirmation into a 2 bedroom ocean view unit in the Lahaina/Napili towers and the code is ZZTR.

Since this is ocean view it should be located in the Lahaina tower.

Thanks for that list of unit codes for Maui. It's very helpful to check when booking an exchange.

Lisa,

Thank you very much for the new MOC code -- I'll update the list...Enjoy the trip!

Best,

Greg

Having read this thread I'm now getting an impression different from what I was advised by an I.I rep. We plan on trading in our Aruba 1 bdrm 2012 weeks for Hawaii 2013 and had intended to request a choice of a few different properties. Maui was of interest but only the 2 new towers(otherwise we'll just stay where we usually do on Maui and use the weeks for the other islands :) ). We were told that we could specifically request that. Am I correct that we could make a request for the new towers and later be placed in the old ones ? Or am I reading this wrong?

If you request MM1 (Lahaina or Napili towers), you should get it, if it is available. If you request both (MMO or MM1) then you may get one or the other. Don't put a request in for both and you should be OK, if it is available.

Further to my previous post, in speaking with the hotel today, I was told that the unit is an Island View, Non-Lockoff, 2 Bedroom in the Napili Tower.

Hopefully it will not have a view over the parking garage.

TOVI is the same room code for non-lock off island at Ko Olina as well asthe non-lockoff 2BR I stayed in at Frenchmans cove.

I wonder if TOVI is somewhat a dedicated 2BR code across several resorts.

With that said I am currently booked ocea view at Ko Olina in non-lockoff which is TBOV and that is the same code for the ocean view room I had at Waiohai

Yup. TOVI is a dedicated 2BR in some resorts.
legend edge reservation always had TOVI also.
Grande Ocean had a different code even though it is a dedicated 2BR. It was OCEO

I am thinking that while TOVI seems to be relatively consistent on room size and type (2BR dedicated) it may not be consistent as far as view. TOVI was my MFC villa however, it clearly had a view of the ocean.. So TOVI is not necessarily mountain/island/non-ocean view at all properties.

I don't think you can ever be 100% certain of which room codes match each room category unless you're staying on an owner's week (whether as an owner or as a renter direct from an owner.) Too many of the resorts play around with placement of II exchangers and Getaway stays, IMO, to put any stock in those reservation placements. Plus, the categories themselves can be more or less view-oriented even within a single resort - for example, at Barony "oceanside" can mean a high floor expansive view of the beach or a low floor limited view of the courtyard.

Yep. A bit nervous about my upcoming Ko Olina TOVI reservation. I own mountain view at the resort and usually have a great view of the ocean in the Kona building. First couple of visits were in the same room. Then my last visit I got what I actually paid for in the Nai building. This time I traded in to ocean and I believe it will be in Nai. However, I wonder what I will truely be assigned. Guess I will find out in 9 days.

We own at the Napili Tower and the Island Views face the mountains and golf course. Call a couple weeks ahead of your arrival and ask for a higher floor. Even the lower floors were built above the garage area in a way that it's not offensive.
