RIP Alan Rickman

I cry over his and Emma Thompson's characters every time I watch Love Actually, and am frightened by Snape in every Harry Potter movie. Not to mention his excellent period drama works.

Gosh, this January has begun so blue.

I've love him in everything I've seen him in. One of my favorites was his Sheriff of Nottingham in "Robin Hood, Price of Thieves".

Watched Bottle Shock just a week ago...he was a fantastic actor and will be missed.

We watched a Harry Potter movie last week, and his performance as Snape stood out again. I love these actors who can be so good at being so bad.

One of the all-time greats. He will be missed. Loved him.

He is in most of my favorite films:

1 Galaxy Quest

2. Dogma

3. Truly, Madly, Deeply

4. Michael Collins

5. Love, Actually

and a few more.

He was the epitome of evil personified as Hans Gruber in "Die Hard."

From "The New York Times:"
As Gruber, Mr. Rickman wrung every malevolent drop that he could from the character’s boastful dialogue.

“Who are you?” he asks McClane (Bruce Willis), who is constantly frustrating his plans. “Just another American who saw too many movies as a child? Another orphan of a bankrupt culture who thinks he’s John Wayne?”
.

I had no idea that he was Snape in Harry Potter.

And we have a third one - Celion Dion's husband - May he rest in peace. Rene Angelil

That is also sad. But he'd been ill, and it was well known, for quite a long time. With David Bowie and Alan Rickman it's such a shock as neither one had talked about having cancer.

For sure. I did not even know David Bowie and Alan Rickman had cancer.

I also love Rickman's love/marriage story. Sweet.

Snape was far and away my favorite character in the Harry Potter series. Lots of reasons.

His acting was outstanding, and he simply blew me away time after time. He seemed like the adversary of Harry at every turn, but his loyalty and dedication to Harry began to emerge in subtle ways, and it finally clicked. He portrayed all this so well. Every word he spoke was so moving to me....he either scared the heck out of me, or encouraged my affection. He was in short, absolutely brilliant.

So very sad at his passing.

My thoughts exactly......:(

I also loved him in Sense and Sensilibity. After being such a bad guy in Die Hard he was such a sympathetic character in Sense and Sensibility. But of course I really felt for him in his final scene in Harry Potter.

#4 now- Dan Haggerty (Grizzly Adams). All men and all in the same age range and all dies of cancer.
