Some of the El Cid resorts are listed as 'Right to Use until 20xx or even 21xx'. Does this really mean that on that year your contract ends and it is fully removed from your Wyndham ownership .. hence no more maintenance fees?

Do the other Wyndham rights including APR and upgrades / discounts if you have VIP status apply?

A few in S and VA, a single resort in NC, MD, PA, and UT, plus Jamaica and the Bahamas
Yes. Membership and MF's go poof at the end of the rtu period.

You will want to make sure it is a Wyndham El Cid membership. Just because it is in points doesn't mean it is part of Wyndham.

In Mexico - I believe this is / was because of federal laws limiting the sale of land to non- Mexicans.

From what I have read - If you as a non Mexican own a condo or house in Mexico there is a trust procedure with a bank that allows ownership.

There may have been updates to these laws - but that is the historic context .

I believe these laws were there I because the Mexican revolution was in part based on agrarian land reform for the landless .

------

For TS "ownership " it is a great no cost exit strategy .
