Reverse a deposit?

I deposited both sides of my SDO with II at the beginning of January, through Star Central website. I have not made an exchange with either side, although I do have an ongoing request on one side. I'm having second thoughts, and was thinking I might like to try out SFX. Is it possible to reverse this deposit?

Yes, under the 2009 II rules all deposits are "request first." Call Starwood Owner Services.

But remember, with II you have the Starwood to Starwood priority - you won't have that kind of trading power in SFX.

To deposit with SFX, you reserve a week, as if for your own use, and then fill out the form to deposit it with SFX. Don't even tell Starwood you are going to deposit it with SFX or some uninformed Rep will argue with you and (incorrectly) tell you that you can't.

SFX will only accept spring weeks - from SDO - call them first.

How's SDO's trading power at SFX compared to II? Which one gets better trades?

You can't compare them, because in II, all Starwood deposits have first priority for other Starwood exchanges.

With SFX, you will not have a Starwood to Starwood priority.

When making a reservation request through StarCentral, and with the intention of later depositing with SFX, what names should I put on the reservation request. It won't let me leave it blank.

The reservation should be in your name(s). When the plan is to trade through SFX, you reserve the best week you can. You don't tell Starwood anything. You get a reservation number and provide that info to SFX. They take it from there.

I can't tell from the above posts whether or not you've notified Starwood of your decision to cxl one of your "exchange designation" requests (if I understand correctly, you designated two weeks for exchange). Tell them you originally designated two weeks for exchange but have now decided to cxl ONE of those designations and make a reservation (again, no need to mention SFX). Then, once you have a reservation, let SFX take it from there. If you use mystarcentral to make a reservation request without cancelling one of the exchange designation, your records could get all screwed up. I would make a phone call -- not use the online system. :)

Edit -- I just read your original post again and realized this is two halves of a lockoff. If you're planning on depositing both halves with SFX (either in two pieces or one), you also probably need to cxl your ongoing request with II. My above advice still stands -- you need to tell Starwood you want to cxl your trade designation on one or both halves ... cxl with II if applicable ... and make one or two separate reservations to turn over to SFX. Sorry if I confused things -- just trying to make the point that I think you need to do more than just make a mystarcentral reservation request if you want to keep your records straight.

this is the response I got back from Starwood.

Thank you for contacting Sheraton Vacation Ownership. We welcome the opportunity to assist you.

With the new process, your ownership week is placed in a Request First Assignment. Although this assignment does not transfer your ownership week to your II membership account immediately, it has several benefits which include your Request First Assignment can be canceled before the end of the use year that has been assigned and before your reservation request with II has been confirmed.

It seems that the new way Starwood does it now, you don't need to cancel anything with II. I think I'll just try making a reservation on StarCentral.
