I currently own at South Beach and Gatlinburg, both bought resale with no restrictions. Together, the deeds total 318,000 points annually, and both properties exchange through RCI.
I’m now looking to get access to Interval International (II) so I can use those points to book through II.
From what I understand, the following HICV properties exchange through II:
- New Orleans Resort
- David Walley’s Resort
- Tahoe Ridge Resort
- Williamsburg Resort
But none of them transfer without restrictions when bought resale.
So here’s my question:
Is there any way for me to get access to II without buying from HICV?
During a recent update, I was offered 30,000 points at New Orleans for $8,000, which would supposedly give me access to II. From what I can tell, buying directly from HICV might be the only way to make that happen.
Would appreciate any thoughts or clarification on this.
Our main goal is to be able to book Disney Resorts. Our daughter is about to turn 3, so we’re hoping to trade the 318,000 points we already have for stays at Disney properties. You can get a much better II trader than HICV points for a lot less than $8000 resale. If you truly want II access getting it from a developer HICV purchase is a bad plan.
Did you buy back when they gave you status on these resales or after. I had those plus Lake Geneva, but sold them when we moved out West.I currently own at South Beach and Gatlinburg, both bought resale with no restrictions. I have never bought anything from HICV if that's what you are asking. I have only owed them for 2 years. They are pushing me to Signaturize my account but I always turn them down. I only do the updates for the gifts at the end.Did you buy back when they gave you status on these resales or after. I had those plus Lake Geneva, but sold them when we moved out West.
I’ve read a few recommendations suggesting Wyndham as a good option for this. The thing is, we don’t use the full 318K points each year as it is, so I’d really prefer not to buy a ton more points or commit to another timeshare where we can't use all the points. Out of the 318K, we use about 108k and rent out the rest.
There are two more possibilities to consider. One: use the proceeds from your rental to rent a DVC stay from an owner. It will be more expensive than exchanging, but doable. Two: an exchange into Wyndham Bonnet Creek. It's not a Disney resort, and does not come with the latter's perks, but it has an excellent location just off Buena Vista, between Caribbean Beach and Disney Springs. We will just have to book at Orange Lake.
Would Bonnet Creek be better than Orange Lake? I'm not familiar with either location, I just know Orange Lake is 25min from Disney. I have only been to Disney once and that was in 2013 long before I knew anything about timeshares. There are two more possibilities to consider. No, resale. Early on you got status.I have never bought anything from HICV if that's what you are asking. I have only owed them for 2 years. They are pushing me to Signaturize my account but I always turn them down. I only do the updates for the gifts at the end.
Disney is hard to exchange in to. Suggest you do a lot of research before buying Wyndham. Orange lake and HICV resale like you have is great for young families. Our main goal is to be able to book Disney Resorts. I’m just trying to figure out the most affordable way to get access to II so we can make the most of what we already own. I agree with you a developer purchase is not the affordable way.

Giving all this, it looks like access to II is not in our future anytime soon. We will just have to book at Orange Lake.
I bought 30,000 trust points several years ago to enroll a resale week and the points were from Ridge Tahoe so I have II access now. The trade power has been disappointing. Although I can usually see the Disney resorts when they show up in the sightings forum. Not sure if I would see the 2bedrooms or not. There have been many times when higher end resorts were sighted outside of any priorities by others here in tug and I can not see them. So I recently picked up a Marriott lock off to solve this problem for me. However the one thing I do like about HIVC in II is that the lower demand weeks are 55,000 points for a 2bedroom which will be way cheaper then using my new lock off. So I can save my Marriott for high demand stuff and use my HIVC points for off season stuff.I currently own at South Beach and Gatlinburg, both bought resale with no restrictions.
