Hubby has bonus SO to use in 2012 as he received them from the developer. I on the other hand was a smart cookie, joined TUG and bought re-sale.
Can we make a booking for someone else with bonus staroptions?

Yes - People make Staroption reservations all the time to rent - Starwood does not care.

Only "restrictions" will be that those particular SPG points will expire 6 years from issue; otherwise, they're no different than regular SPG points.

Maybe she meant Starpoints, but the OP asked about Staroptions.

Hmm, I just automaticaly read "Starpoints" -- I thought that SVO stopped issuing bonus SOs in 2011 for developer purchases, only bonus SPG points.

SVO calls them StarOption points in much of their documents - TUG uses StarOptions (SO) - thus causing confusion.

Does SVO give bonus SOs? I have heard them giving so-called bonus SOs associated with a sale when Owner needs to delay first years use - but straight-up bonus SOs?

I am assuming the OP was given StarPoints (SPs)

Hubby received 80,000 bonus Staroptions to use anywhere except Harborside in 2012. Since they are bonus options I was not sure if they had any restrictions.

Bonus Options were sometimes offerred for "forward" purchases -- if you bought in 2011 for a 2012 use year you got Options to use now. We were offerred some at one of our owners update but didn't take that deal.

80,000 is a weird number of StarOptions (I would expect to see 67,100 or 81,000 or 148,100), but is a usual number of StarPoints.

So, back to your original question -- while I haven't ever had bonus StarOptions I presume you can use them and put another person's name on the reservation. Call soon to make the reservation as prime 2012 locations and weeks are likely to be low on inventory. Hope that person has fun!
