We did not eat at La Portena in NV - it is on the road to town from the GM/MP. I discovered that it is owned by the folks who have the Buenos Aires Steak place at the Marina in PV. I would assume that they have the same great steaks. Our "kids" went to Chaser's over the OXXO store that is across the street from La Protena to watch Monday Night Football in November. They said that Chaser's had excellent steaks (this is from KC folks that know great steak.)
In Bucerias, several of the restaurants along the beach are good. I especially liked the 2nd or 3rd one down from the town square. It was white and I can't remeber the name - El C....... The bacon wrapped large shrimp was awesome. We did ask for their special sauce on the side though - we had it a few years ago did not care for it.
We highly recommend La Portena! Great family atmosphere, and really good food. Just remember it is an open air restaurant and so you need to expect an occasional flying visitor.
