Restaurants in Boston

Boston Harbor was directly in front of the building at the time) but that "in and out" parking is $56 per day!!!!
While no balconies is customary for the period the building was built, isn't parking fees of this nature customary in large urban centers? We paid $57 per day for valet parking in downtown Nashville and Atlanta. I also understand that the parking by Custom House isn't owned or operated by Marriott or the association.

Gayle, we have done the same each time we’ve been there. 🍷🍷

Enjoy your time at Custom House and in Boston.

I’m quite jealous you know. It’s my favorite Marriott property for many reasons.

Yes. It is indeed customary for the downtown Boston area. But few Boston area residents would ever pay that much. And if you know where to go, you don't have to. I suggested one way that "locals" (or even "in the know" non-locals) avoid such parking expenditures, particularly since Boston is such a walkable city with such outstanding public transportation options such that people would just be paying to store their car. But if someone feels more comfortable paying for the Custom House's recommended in and out parking, of course they can do so.

Just wanted to provide what I believe is a convenient alternative which would, itself, "pay" for some pretty fantastic restaurant meals. :).

Momma Maria's was fantastic! They even let me order half portions so I could try more. Mike's bakery (cash only) was packed and my husband said delicious. Can't wait what we find today, thanks all.
The subway is good, but very walkable. We walked 6 miles yesterday.
Look forward to coming back....so many Marriots, so little time.

Since you learned Fenway Franks yesterday let’s replace subway with T today 😊
Beautiful weather we are having- enjoy.

A six mile walk is very helpful after enjoying great Italian food.

We had a fantastic meal at Limoncello tonight. Highly recommend the Linguine Frutti Di Mare and the Pollo Alla Marsala.

Limoncello is a great spot.
The location, first of all, is one of the first restaurants you come to when walking from Custom House, so that's a big plus.
But what you find on the inside is truly the "powdered sugar dusting on the cannoli", so to speak (aka "icing on the cake" in America).

The food and service are both outstanding, which of course are the most important things, but I also think the elegant yet homey atmosphere
that guests experience truly adds something special.
If you have been to Italy and experienced the great little mom and pop trattorias, you know what I mean.

This restaurant doesn't "try to create the Italian feel", it IS Italian! Most of the staff are from Italy themselves, and they speak Italian openly to each other,
which solidifies its authenticity and romantic air.
The beautiful mural along the left wall also welcomes everyone in. All in all, it's a great evening for sure, and one you won't forget.
There are several awesome Italian restaurants on my list for Boston's North End, but I'd have to say that Limoncello
"recreates an evening in a quintessential small Italian trattoria" like no other. Anyone wishing to propose marriage in a romantic spot, this is it.

TUG's "cp73" (Chris Paul) told me about Limoncello many years ago, and now I can thankfully say that we have enjoyed many wonderful meals there,
so Thank you, Chris. (Chris also gave me a plentiful number of tips prior to our first trip to Italy back in October of 2018, and it made that vacation the best
one we've ever had, and frankly it would be impossible to ever duplicate such an amazing experience again.)

Re the post above on "12 Iconic Dishes Around Boston":
I much prefer the Chowder at James Hook & Co, just my opinion, but so far I haven't been convinced otherwise, with a lot of "testing" involved......
You can drizzle anything over a chowder, but the chowder itself is the "gold" worth digging for and enjoying---- theirs is sublime.
The Lobster rolls at James Hook are also the best.......looking at my own pictures makes me drool, the other pics don't. More moist, more flavorful.
And lots of lobster between those buns.
Neptune Oyster, imho, is overrated. It's a tourist "thing", and the line is long for what you get. Last time we visited, the seafood was undercooked and very disappointing.
We waited and waited for it to be corrected...they really didn't seem to care. Went there once before that, same type experience. Were rushed in and out on that occasion.
I've asked around Boston many times and that's an opinion I hear a lot, especially with those who work in the restaurant business there in North End.

We have tried all the pastry shops, and Modern Pastry we feel is superior. All are good, Modern is great.
The roast beef sandwich shown in "the list" in a post above looks OK, but I've had much better at a few of the North End pubs.
And the pizza.......looks underwhelming. Regina Pizzeria on Thatcher Street is my gold standard, so I am posting another shot from there as an example.
Been there many times, never disappointed. Delicious.
